Urban Martial Saint

Hundreds of police officers surrounded Eryao Town and conducted a search, managing to find two more people. Including the five people the martial artists captured from the rooftop, a total of seven individuals were captured alive. Add to that two who fell to their deaths from the roof, four killed by Ye Qing, and two who were shot dead in the chaos; a total of fifteen were left on this side.

These fifteen people are just a small fraction of the group that came; most have already escaped. This means that the number of people from the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps this time far exceeds the previous occasion. The number from last time was barely fifteen; so many have come this time, it seems the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps is planning something big.

As one group was sent to interrogate the seven captives, a citywide deployment was also underway to capture members of the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps. However, everyone knew this was hardly effective, as the Mercenary Corps are on par with Special Forces in combat strength. Capturing them is not something ordinary police can do. Therefore, the city bureau reported the matter to the provincial department immediately, preparing to work with the Military Department to capture these mercenaries.

Meanwhile, before all the mercenaries were captured, the city bureau dispatched significant police forces to safeguard the orphanage and prevent any harm to the children from the mercenaries.

Once the orphanage was secured, Ye Qing hurried to Shenchuan City Hospital. Su Kaicheng was directly sent to the hospital where Lin Tianyou was, and Lin Tianyou came over personally to examine him. When Ye Qing arrived, Su Kaicheng’s wound had already been bandaged, and Lin Tianyou was busy performing surgery on one of Su Kaicheng’s colleagues in another room.

Su Kaicheng was already awake; his injury was not severe, the bullet merely grazed his neck, creating a bleeding groove. After taking a Ziyu Chenxiang Pill from Ye Qing, the bleeding slowed. At the hospital, only some medicine and simple bandaging was required. The truly dangerous ones were a few colleagues of Su Kaicheng—one was shot in the head and remains in critical condition, still undergoing emergency treatment.

Su Kaicheng sat outside the surgery room, his rare expression showing discomfort. These colleagues were longtime friends who risked their lives with him, and they encountered this situation to save him, so his concern was palpable.

Ye Qing approached Su Kaicheng and asked, ”Elder Brother Su, how are you?”

Su Kaicheng glanced at Ye Qing, shook his head slowly, and hoarsely said, ”I’m fine, but it’s He Zi I’m worried about; he got shot in the head, who knows how he’ll turn out.”

Ye Qing said, ”Brother Lin’s medical skills are profound. I’m certain he can save your friend!”

”I hope so!” Su Kaicheng sighed and said to Ye Qing, ”Ye brother, thank you for what you did earlier.”

Ye Qing replied, ”It was what I should do, no need to thank me—you and I are brothers, no need for so many words.”

”I thank you mainly for saving my colleagues.” Su Kaicheng sincerely said, ”If not for you, they might not have made it.”

”No need to thank for that.” Ye Qing said, ”As a soldier, how could I leave a comrade behind to escape by myself?”

Su Kaicheng looked at Ye Qing, with more admiration on his face. He slowly nodded, and said, ”By the way, Ye brother, I heard earlier that these were from the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps today?”

”Right, they are from the Toxic Eel Mercenary Corps!” Ye Qing said grimly, ”Last time, Cheng Shuang and I worked with the Xiangjiang Police to crack that case, capturing and killing several of their members. I guess this time they came for revenge. Quite a few came; they seem ready for something big!”

”Revenge?” Su Kaicheng slightly frowned, pondered, and shook his head, saying, ”I fear they are not here for mere revenge.”

”Oh?” Ye Qing was surprised and whispered, ”Could it be they have another purpose for coming?”

Su Kaicheng waved his hand and said, ”We’ll discuss this later. Prepare to go to the Capital with me this afternoon.”

”What’s so urgent?” Ye Qing asked in surprise, as Su Kaicheng seemed to have something pressing. He came in haste, and earlier in Eryao Town, Zhao Chengshuang had officers block off the three roads leading in, preventing their entry. Yet Su Kaicheng and his team forced their way in; what happened that made Su Kaicheng so urgent?

”We’ll talk about it on the plane this afternoon.” Su Kaicheng didn’t say more, just stared at the surgery room’s door, his expression growing more serious, and no one knew what he was thinking.

Ye Qing didn’t ask further; he knew Su Kaicheng’s identity meant some things couldn’t be spoken about openly. If he said nothing, it must be a secret that can only be discussed when they are alone.

After about an hour, the surgery room’s door finally opened, and Lin Tianyou emerged wearing a white coat.

Su Kaicheng quickly approached and urgently asked, ”Doctor, how is he?”

Lin Tianyou said, ”He’s out of the danger zone for now, but the bullet is pressing against the brain nerves, and the situation is quite precarious. He needs to stay in the hospital for further observation.”

”Ah?” Su Kaicheng was wide-eyed, completely stunned.

In all his years, Su Kaicheng had experienced many things, including firefights. He previously had colleagues shot in the head, who ultimately didn’t survive. These events left a profound shadow on him. This time, he thought his colleague was a lost cause, yet unexpectedly, he made it through the danger zone.

And remarkably, the injury was severe—a bullet pressing against the brain nerves typically means a death sentence, yet the doctor managed to pull them through to safety. It was beyond anything he could have imagined.

It took a while for Su Kaicheng to recover and he hurriedly asked, ”Really...truly out of danger?”

A nurse behind Lin Tianyou, none other than Chen Keai, heard this and immediately pouted in displeasure, ”Of course it’s true; do you think Tianyou would lie to you?”

Ye Qing couldn’t help but glance at Chen Keai. How long had it been? Her address for him had changed! It used to be Doctor Lin, Doctor Lin, but now it was Tianyou; clearly, they had progressed quite well.

”A bullet pressing against brain nerves… it’s out of danger?” Su Kaicheng still couldn’t quite believe it.

”If you don’t believe it, see for yourself!” Chen Keai retorted, displeased. She hated when people doubted Lin Tianyou’s medical skills.

Seeing Su Kaicheng’s skepticism, Ye Qing explained, ”Elder Brother Su, this Brother Lin is one of the top domestic brain specialists, also known as the Divine Doctor in the Southern Six Provinces. He’s extremely authoritative in the field of neurology!”

Su Kaicheng didn’t know Lin Tianyou’s capabilities, but hearing Ye Qing’s explanation, he was deeply impressed. The experts he knew before were all of advanced age; never had he seen someone this young. The most crucial point: Lin Tianyou performed the surgery much quicker than any experts Su Kaicheng had known, showcasing his exceptional medical skills.

Lin Tianyou smiled and said, ”The bullet has been removed. Just more observation now, and barring issues, he can be discharged.”

Su Kaicheng finally regained himself, quickly saying, ”Divine Doctor Lin, thank you!”

”No need to thank me; go see him, but try not to disturb his rest too much. Ye Zi, I’ll be in the office over there; call me if you need anything.” Lin Tianyou instructed, then headed to his office with Chen Keai.

Su Kaicheng and his less severely injured colleagues rushed into the ward, still somewhat skeptical. But seeing the injured colleague awake in bed, they immediately believed Lin Tianyou’s words.

”This Divine Doctor Lin, his medical skills are extraordinary.” Su Kaicheng thought, eyes gleaming with an unknown emotion.

”Not only is Divine Doctor Lin skilled in medicine, but he’s also kind-hearted. Here in the Southern Six Provinces, he’s achieved significant accomplishments by dedicating himself to medicine.” Ye Qing explained, admiration for Lin Tianyou in his heart. In the Southern Six Provinces, everyone knew of this virtuous and talented doctor.

Listening to Ye Qing, Su Kaicheng felt compelled to say, ”Such competence is truly rare!”

His eyes fluttering toward Lin Tianyou’s office intermittently, Su Kaicheng’s eyes sparkled with unusual brilliance, although no one knew exactly what he was thinking.

At around noon, all the injured were settled into their respective arrangements. One martial artist was injured, but it was just a graze—it didn’t even require hospitalization, just a simple bandage sufficed. Fortunately, none of the children or staff at the orphanage were harmed; this was at least some relief. Otherwise, Shenchuan City would have had a serious situation on their hands.
