Urban Martial Saint

Su Kaicheng was silent for a moment, took a piece of paper from the table next to him, and handed it to Ye Qing, saying, ”I think it might be related to this.”

Ye Qing took the paper and glanced at it. It was densely packed with words, but the main content was actually very simple. It stated that a large oil reserve was discovered in Fusang Country, accounting for about half of the world’s oil reserves.

Ye Qing instantly understood why so many forces had set their sights on Fusang Country. In this energy-dependent society, oil is the flowing gold. The discovery of so much oil in Fusang Country was practically a declaration to the world that Fusang Country was built on gold. No wonder everyone had their eyes on Fusang Country. At this point, whoever controlled Fusang Country controlled immense wealth!

”We suspect that these Special Forces might be from a certain country, attempting to use these Biochemical Weapons to disrupt Fusang Country and then further control it.” Su Kaicheng paused and said in a deep voice, ”Therefore, we have reason to believe that the other party not only possesses these Biochemical Weapons but also has the antidote for them. Only this way can they control Fusang Country!”

Ye Qing slowly nodded, realizing that what Su Kaicheng said was indeed crucial. If those Special Forces really used these Biochemical Weapons to control the upper echelons of Fusang Country, wouldn’t that mean they controlled the whole country?

”Fusang Country borders our nation. If chaos erupts there, our country can’t remain unaffected.” Su Kaicheng said in a deep voice, ”Moreover, having such Biochemical Weapons in enemy hands is always a threat. So we must develop the antidote to these Biochemical Weapons, or we will remain in a passive state!”

Upon hearing this, both Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou couldn’t help but shudder, as what Su Kaicheng said was really critical.

”Actually, these Biochemical Weapons are banned worldwide. How exactly were they developed?” Lin Tianyou inquired.

”Banned is banned, but there are always some who harbor malicious intent, saying one thing openly and doing another in secret. Publicly they say these things are banned, but who knows how far they’ve studied them in private!” Su Kaicheng said gravely, ”In any case, our nation will not proactively start a war, nor will we let anyone trample on us. If they can develop these Biochemical Weapons, we can develop the antidote, absolutely will not lag behind them!”

When Su Kaicheng said this, his tone was generous, indicating his own excitement. Being a key member of the State Security Department, he worried more than anyone about national security matters.

From Shenchuan City to the Northwest border, the plane flew for about two hours, finally landing at the military district’s airport. Those infected were also sent to the military district for isolation and control, to prevent them from accidentally hurting others. Fortunately, the infected would not transmit the infection to others, so only a dozen people were infected for now. Even so, it alarmed the high-level officials in the Capital, because the implications of Biochemical Weapons were indeed too significant.

Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou got off the plane and directly followed Su Kaicheng into the research institute. At this moment, thirty or forty doctors had already gathered in the institute, all renowned doctors from various places, each with achievements in multiple fields.

This time, not only did Su Kaicheng go to Shenchuan City to invite doctors, but others were also busy in different places inviting doctors, and almost all the renowned doctors in the country had gathered here.

”Little Su, what’s happened to you?” As Su Kaicheng entered the lab, a man around his age smiled and said, ”Weren’t you going to Shenchuan City to invite people? How did you get so wounded yourself? And you’ve spent so long, was it that hard to invite someone?”

The man spoke and glanced at Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou behind, with barely noticeable hostility creeping in. It was apparent that this man was not on good terms with Su Kaicheng.

However, since this man dared to speak to Su Kaicheng like this, it indicated that his identity was not simple. At the very least, his background should be somewhat comparable to Su Kaicheng’s, or else, who would dare speak so sarcastically?

”Had a minor situation in Shenchuan City, no problem.” Su Kaicheng glanced around and said, ”Is everyone here? If so, shall we begin?”

”Everyone’s been waiting for you. Already here.” The man glanced sideways at Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou and said, ”Are these the people you invited? So young, are their medical skills really up to it?”

”You’ll know if it’s up to par once you try!” Su Kaicheng said with displeasure, ”Liu Cheng, can you stop with the nonsense and get on with the main task!”

The man named Liu Cheng gave a cold sneer and stopped criticizing Su Kaicheng, heading directly to the main seat. There sat a man in military uniform, appearing to be in his fifties, with a stern face, hinting at a general-level position, exuding great authority.

After listening to Liu Cheng, the man nodded, stood up, and said aloud, ”Hello everyone, my name is Li Yanwu. First, thank you all for taking the time to come and help, I represent the Military Department in thanking you all.”

As he spoke, the man stood up straight and gave a military salute to everyone. Seeing this, everyone straightened up, their expressions turning grave. It was evident that many were still unaware of what had transpired.

This Li Yanwu didn’t slack off in the slightest, directly recounting the situation here, similar to what Su Kaicheng had said earlier.

Upon hearing Li Yanwu’s words, everyone immediately started discussing, and some, who had not known what was happening, were still in shock.

After some time for discussion, Li Yanwu said in a loud voice, ”For the detailed situation, everyone can go inside and take a look. The patients and the samples analyzed by our military doctors are in the inner room, everyone can check and analyze the specific conditions.”

Under Li Yanwu’s lead, everyone entered the inner research institute, where those dozen individuals were detained. It was evident these individuals had lost their minds. Though they were locked up, upon seeing outsiders, they immediately lunged forward like beasts, howling and trying to bite through the glass, which startled quite a few people.

Seeing the condition of these individuals, Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou were somewhat surprised; they hadn’t expected the situation to be this severe. Earlier, when Su Kaicheng described it, they thought these people had only lost their humanity, but now, it seemed they were barely different from beasts.

After observing these patients, everyone went to look at the analysis results from the military doctors, which were essentially blood tests and other findings. Strangely, these blood test results indicated that there was nothing abnormal, and they were identical to normal individuals, which was the main reason the military doctors couldn’t continue their research. They couldn’t find any traces of the Biochemical Weapons in these patients’ bodies, nor could they analyze its components.

Li Yanwu waited by the side for almost two hours, seeing that everyone had stopped discussing, and then said loudly, ”Everyone has had no rest after the journey, as this matter is indeed of great importance. I wonder if anyone has made any discoveries yet?”

Everyone exchanged glances, but nobody spoke up. How could anyone discover anything in such a short time?

As everyone remained silent, a man stepped forward and said, ”I just examined the conditions of these individuals and found an important point. These individuals have completely lost human rationality and behave like beasts. I suspect that this drug can control human brain nerves. Therefore, simply studying blood and such wouldn’t be very effective. What’s truly needed is to study the human brain!”

Li Yanwu said, ”Our doctors have conducted numerous scans; there are no abnormalities in their brain areas!”

”External scans only reveal the surface.” The man looked around and said, ”The true cause of illness often isn’t apparent externally.”

”Oh?” Li Yanwu was a bit surprised, ”So what do you suggest we do?”

The man softly replied, ”First, we need sufficient research specimens!”

”Research specimens?” Li Yanwu was even more puzzled. Although he didn’t know what research specimens were, the other doctors seemed shocked.

”What are research specimens?” Ye Qing whispered to Lin Tianyou beside him.

”It means living people.” Lin Tianyou paused, then whispered, ”This doctor intends to use live human brains for research!”

”Ah?” Ye Qing was taken aback, ”How is that done?”

”By dissecting human brains for research.” Lin Tianyou replied in a low voice.

”That’s not possible!” Ye Qing immediately said, perhaps sounding a bit too excited, making his voice slightly loud. Everyone present heard him clearly, and they all looked towards him.

The man named Liu Cheng slightly furrowed his eyebrows. The doctor who had just spoken was invited by him, and it was this doctor who first proposed the research idea. If this doctor could handle this matter well, it would mean a great achievement for him. He was quite thrilled in his heart. Who would have known, Ye Qing immediately shouted out such a sentence, which made him somewhat displeased.

”I think Doctor Zhou’s suggestion is worth considering!” Liu Cheng said loudly, ”Our previous research was only superficial, overly narrow. To thoroughly investigate it, some sacrifices are inevitable. The key is to quickly develop the antidote for these Biochemical Weapons, so that when others use them against us, we won’t be at a loss and unprepared. Like with warfare, sacrifices are inevitable. But if sacrificing one person can quell a war before it starts, should we not make this sacrifice?”
