The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1540: Chapter 1540: Wei Ronghua Recruits Workers

Shu Yu had to temporarily put this matter aside, especially since Chen Ji’s death brought that mysterious person into the picture. If it were up to Shu Yu, for safety reasons, she would most likely leave Jiangyuan County for a while.

Because she had to be a witness, Shu Yu was delayed for a day. The next day, she set off again for the prefecture.

The shop on Fengtao Lane in the prefecture had already been renovated. When Shu Yu arrived, she unexpectedly found the area around the shop to be bustling.

When they were still more than twenty meters away, the carriage stopped.

She and Ying Xi exchanged a glance, took a few steps forward, and stopped a bystander to ask, ”What’s happening up ahead, with so many people?”

”Hey, you don’t know? There’s been a popular rhyme going around, saying that a shop is opening on the first of September in Fengtao Lane, which is just up ahead.” The person pointed ahead to explain.

Shu Yu laughed. It seemed this idea of spreading the rhyme worked well; in just a few days, it already had quite an effect.

The person continued, ”Isn’t it about to open soon? The shopkeeper has to hire suitable staff, right? They announced it yesterday afternoon. Anyone who’s interested can sign up, and the registration ends in two days, when the selection process will begin. If it’s a good fit, the wages aren’t small at all.”

Shu Yu was surprised. The day before yesterday was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and as far as she knew, Wei Ronghua would only depart for the prefecture after celebrating.

Coming back from Donggu County and settling down should have taken a full day, right? But he had already started preparations yesterday afternoon?

Ying Xi whispered, ”Miss, Manager Wei is really diligent, worth the hire.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Let’s go, we’ll enter from the back door.”

The front was crowded with people, so getting in would be quite difficult.

Ying Xi then led the carriage as the two of them returned to the last intersection and went around to the back.

Shu Yu had a key, but the sound of her unlocking the door still caught the attention of those inside. As she pushed the door open, she saw Wei Fangfang watching cautiously.

Seeing it was her, Wei instantly brightened up, ”Monarch Lu Xiang.”

”Miss Wei, you’re here too?”

Wei Fangfang put down the stick she had grabbed in a hurry earlier and patted her hands, saying, ”My father is here working, so I came to lend a hand.”

Shu Yu walked in with a smile, ”Then I have to pay you some wages.”

Wei Fangfang quickly waved her hands, ”No, no, it’s fine. I didn’t actually help much, just stayed with my father and occasionally poured him some water.”

Originally, she intended to see if she needed to sweep or wipe tables, but upon entering, she found everything was spotless and not needing her help. So she quickly went to the backyard to boil some water to send out to those waiting to sign up outside, since it was quite hot at midday.

Hearing this, Shu Yu became even more satisfied with Wei Ronghua. His ability was impressive, and he taught his daughter to consider everything carefully.

She rolled up her sleeves, ”Is the water ready? Let me help.”

Wei Fangfang was startled, ”No, no, no, it’s okay, I can manage myself.”

The water was already boiled, and she was just about to find a tray when she heard a noise from the back door. She picked up a stick in preparation, but before she could call for her father, the door had already been pushed open.

Seeing her so nervous, Shu Yu had to give up, letting Ying Xi help her while she proceeded to the front of the shop.

Before she even entered, the sound of lively chatter reached her ears.

Wei Ronghua was, in fact, there with the staff member, Ren Yiping, who had arrived in the prefecture ahead of time. They were calmly asking questions and registering candidates, methodically managing the process.
