The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1533: Chapter 1533: Qiuju Confesses Her Crimes

Qiuju didn’t actually know much; she simply pried some words out of Chen Ji while he was drunk that day.

Later, Scholar Chen returned, so she had to temporarily stop her inquiries. But the important things, those she should know, she still found out.

Qiuju possessed some beauty; otherwise, Scholar Chen wouldn’t have chosen her as a concubine.

The Chen Family lacked power and influence, so to please others, they had to cater to their preferences. Coincidentally, the person Chen Ji had gotten involved with had some fondness for women, and the Chen Family only had a few female members, with the younger ones being Kong Zhiyou, Qiuju, and Dongmei.

Kong Zhiyou was not suitable; she was the Chen Family’s legitimate wife, with the Kong Family backing her.

Dongmei was also not suitable, as she was rather plain and had no distinctive characteristics.

That left only Qiuju, who had a good figure, could seduce people, wasn’t upright, and being a concubine without backing yet having some ambition.

Chen Ji believed Qiuju should be willing, as following that person would allow her to rise in status, much better than staying with Scholar Chen.

Who knew Qiuju was not willing; she had never met that person, but from Chen Ji’s words, the person seemed to be quite old. Moreover, since this person liked women, they would pounce on attractive ones; she was just one among many and didn’t stand a chance.

What rise in status? How could it be better than staying with Scholar Chen? In Qiuju’s mind, Scholar Chen was a potential stock, young and able to pass the scholarly examination, and in the future become an Advanced Scholar, even an official, much better than that old man from who knows where.

Besides, Qiuju had the upper hand in her dealings with Kong Zhiyou, which made her feel confident enough that she could completely suppress her and eventually replace her as Scholar Chen’s wife.

With such a promising and reliable future, why should she choose to follow a lecherous old man?

Qiuju hated Chen Ji intensely; she knew him well after being in the Chen Family for so long, understanding that he would do anything to climb the social ladder, appearing as a hypocrite with a facade of virtue.

Similarly, she also understood Scholar Chen, knowing that when he heard about this, he would side with his father.

Therefore, Qiuju didn’t go to Scholar Chen to complain, nor did she expect Chen Ji to change his mind. She had experience in causing harm; it was she who caused Kong Zhiyou to lose the child in her womb. With the first time done, the second doesn’t seem as difficult.

Chen Ji became her target, but Qiuju was only a maid from a wealthy family, with limited knowledge.

She could harm Kong Zhiyou because she knew her well enough to strike accurately.

But to murder Chen Ji, and then extricate herself while pinning the blame on Kong Zhiyou involved many people, requiring each step to be executed carefully, without error.

Clearly, Qiuju lacked the skill for this.

Therefore, the plan she devised in just two days was full of flaws.

Now that things have fallen apart, she was in a state of madness.

After hearing it all, Lord Xie furrowed his brows and asked, ”Where did you buy the arsenic?”

”Arsenic? I didn’t buy it, that was the old beast’s. That day, the old beast got drunk and said if I didn’t agree, he would poison me. I knew he had poison in his desk drawer, and when I took it out, I saw it was arsenic.”

Lord Xie was very surprised; the arsenic was actually Chen Ji’s own?

However, none of the Medical Halls had records of Chen Ji purchasing arsenic, could it be given to him by the person he sought to attach himself to?
