The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1527: Chapter 1527: A Threat to Kong Zhiyou

Dongmei, she is the other maid of Kong Zhiyou, kneeling in the middle of the main hall.

When Kong Zhiyou married into the Chen Family, she brought two maids, Qiuju and Dongmei, along with two old women.

But after the two old women entered the Chen Family, not only did they have to serve Kong Zhiyou, but they also managed the daily lives of the Chen family father and son.

Initially, Kong Zhiyou didn’t mind, but after her miscarriage, Qiuju became Scholar Chen’s concubine, and the two old women had to serve Qiuju as well.

Kong Zhiyou couldn’t tolerate it, so she simply let the two old women take leave and return to the Kong Family, leaving only Dongmei by her side.

The Chen family father and son knew she had just miscarried, and with the Kong family causing a commotion, they dared not object and had to let her have her way.

But Dongmei only took care of Kong Zhiyou alone. She was not talkative but truly loyal to her mistress, and since Kong Zhiyou did not want her to take care of others in the Chen Family, she genuinely didn’t spare them even a glance.

Kong Zhiyou regretted her past preference for Qiuju, finding her eloquent and clever, only to realize now that Dongmei was the one who truly cared for her.

With no one to care for the Chen family father and son, they had to hire nearby old women to help with laundry and cooking. Anyway, that’s how they lived before Kong Zhiyou married over.

These old women would go home after finishing their daily work.

So, when Scholar Chen and Qiuju went out to see lanterns last night, the only ones at home were Kong Zhiyou, her father-in-law Chen Ji, and Dongmei, who should have been attending to Kong Zhiyou.

Now Qiuju pointed out that it was indeed strange for Dongmei, who was supposed to be home, not to be there.

Kong Zhiyou took a deep breath, avoided looking at Qiuju, and raised her eyes to speak to Lord Xie, ”My Lord, it was indeed at my instruction that Dongmei went back. These days, Dongmei has been diligently taking care of me, regardless of how bad-tempered or demanding I was, she never complained. She is sincere with me, and naturally, I am also concerned for her. A few days ago, her family sent word that her mother was ill, asking her to return. But Dongmei just went to have a look and then returned to attend to me.”

Dongmei was born in the Kong household, with her parents and brother still there.

Kong Zhiyou looked at Dongmei, ”She’s worried about leaving me alone, but I know she’s concerned about her family. I’ve recovered a lot since I finished my confinement. Yesterday was the Mid-Autumn Festival, so I suggested she go home to spend the reunion festival with her family, which is why she was not at home.”

Doctor Xie asked Dongmei, ”Is what Ms. Kong said true?”

Dongmei spoke softly, but clearly, ”My Lord, what Miss said is correct. Miss has long advised me to go home, except now I am the only one by her side, and with her in poor health, she can’t do without someone. Moreover, with Qiuju at home, I couldn’t feel easy. Yesterday, Miss said that Qiuju, the Young Master, and Lord would all go out to see the lanterns, and she would be the only one at home, so I wouldn’t need to worry about anyone harming her, thus she let me go back.”

Lord Xie paused, ”You just said the Lord of the Chen family would also go out?”

Dongmei nodded, ”Yes, my Lord, at first I did hear the Lord say he would go out, but I don’t know what happened later that he suddenly decided to stay home.”

Lord Xie then looked at Kong Zhiyou and Qiuju, both shook their heads, Qiuju stated, ”I didn’t hear that the Lord was going out.”

Kong Zhiyou, however, spoke, ”I don’t know why my father-in-law changed his mind and stayed at home.”

Lord Xie then looked at Scholar Chen.
