The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1531: Chapter 1531: Sorting Out the Clues

Even Scholar Chen, who favored Concubine Qiu more, gradually pieced everything together.

Concubine Qiu made Scholar Chen injure his leg, preventing him from going out as originally planned and forcing him to stay home. Then she had Old Lady Jiang cook bland dishes, resulting in Chen Ji having no appetite and eating little at night.

By the second watch of the Xu hour, Chen Ji was unbearably hungry, and at home, there was only the inexperienced cook, Zhiyou. He couldn’t go out due to his injured foot and didn’t know how to cook for himself.

Coincidentally, there was a piece of instant noodles at home that tasted good whether eaten dry or soaked in hot water, and it was the only piece, simple and easy to prepare.

Most people would choose this block of noodles, so he soaked the instant noodles and ate them.

But arsenic had been sprinkled on the instant noodles, and after he ate them, he was poisoned, thus losing his life.

Every step was meticulously arranged, and finally, the blame was shifted to the only witnessless person at home, Zhiyou, perfectly framed.

Cold sweat brimmed on Qiuju’s forehead, and her body trembled slightly, but she still forcibly endured it.

Scholar Chen, however, lunged forward, grabbing her by the collar, ”Qiuju, why did you harm my father? Where did he do you wrong, why did you endure him, huh?!”

Qiuju shook her head, ”I didn’t do it, I really didn’t do it, it was all just a coincidence.”

”Coincidence? Do you believe it yourself? Do you think there are so many coincidences?”

”Then someone deliberately set me up.” At this critical moment, she still tried to blame Kong Zhiyou.

Unfortunately, the doctor from the clinic came over quickly.

After listening to Lord Xie’s question, he straightforwardly said, ”I never told Old Scholar Chen to have a bland diet.”

Qiuju argued, ”Maybe you’ve seen too many patients and forgot what you said.”

The doctor laughed, ”Old Scholar Chen only had a bumped leg, though the skin was a bit broken, applying good medicine was enough. All I advised was that he shouldn’t stand for long, should rest more, and just come back to check the wound in a few days, why would I say to have a bland diet?”

You must know, unless it’s a particularly wealthy family, ordinary people begrudge putting much oil, salt, or sugar in their cooking, so their diet isn’t very flavorful. Therefore, doctors rarely give such dietary advice to patients; rather, they sometimes tell malnourished people to eat a bit better.

So this doctor was very clear about what he instructed.

Seeing Qiuju still wanting to quibble, Doctor Xie slammed the gavel, ”Bold Qiuju, at this point, you still refuse to repent. Must you force me to enforce corporal punishment?”

Qiuju became thoroughly flustered; she looked up and saw Shu Yu standing nearby. She urgently said, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, Monarch Lu Xiang, please save me; I bumped into you last night. I met you at the third watch of the Xu hour, but Lord died at the second watch! If I really poisoned him, how could I be sure he would go eat noodles at that time? Maybe later, after we returned, he would eat, and we wouldn’t escape from suspicion then!”

Shu Yu pursed her lips, seriously thinking, ”But I feel when you bumped into me, there was some intention.”

Qiuju’s expression froze. The next moment, she watched as the beautiful Monarch Lu Xiang with a devilish look said, ”It was strange when you suddenly bumped into me; no one was crowding you. Moreover, clearly, you were the one who bumped into me, yet you didn’t apologize or leave immediately, but instead turned to confront me. This behavior is quite odd, don’t you think?”
