The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1518: Chapter 1518: Letter from Linzhang Prefecture

Shu Yu only now found out from Wu Fengyuan’s mouth that after Hu Geng followed his mother to Donggu County, his mother passed away shortly after, and by chance, he met Wei Ronghua and became his apprentice.

Wei Ronghua brought him into Red Cake as a staff, but Hu Geng’s temper was still a bit fiery. After the new boss took over the shop, they had a conflict, and he was fired by the boss.

So now the two staff in the shop were all newly recruited this year, no wonder they are not close to Wei Ronghua.

Without work, Hu Geng found some hard labor to do. He had a lot of strength, so he wasn’t worried.

After Wu Fengyuan learned about his background, he asked the steward to find him. Unexpectedly, Hu Geng refused.

The reason for the refusal was quite straightforward. The ranch was outside the city, and Hu Geng couldn’t come back every day. If he worked for the Wu family, he would probably have to live outside the city. But now he knew very well about Wei Ronghua’s situation and was afraid that if he wasn’t around, his master would be bullied, and he wouldn’t be able to rush back.

Wu Fengyuan didn’t force it, but just yesterday, before he met Shu Yu, he was startled by a horse on the way back, and it was Hu Geng who caught it.

Wu Fengyuan was determined to recruit him to the ranch, and today he came specifically to find Wei Ronghua, hoping he could persuade Hu Geng, and he happened to see him in trouble.

”Otherwise, how would Hu Geng and Wei family’s girl know so quickly and rush to Red Cake?”

Shu Yu suddenly realized, ”So it was you who informed them?”

”Yes, if you hadn’t shown up, I was planning to step in myself.”

Now it’s all good, each gets what they need.

Wu Fengyuan laughed and said, ”Hu Geng knew that Wei Ronghua had a place to go, so he agreed readily.”

Shu Yu chuckled; she earlier suggested that Wei Ronghua could take charge and recruit another staff, which was actually after seeing Hu Geng and giving him a spot.

She also thought that Wei Ronghua would take this apprentice with him, but it seems it’s not necessary now.

Actually, Wu Fengyuan’s joy is not only about finding the right person, but also because this person is Wei Ronghua’s apprentice, and Wei Ronghua is now someone highly regarded by Monarch Lu Xiang.

Wu Fengyuan knew well how many backers were behind Monarch Lu Xiang. He also had his own private intentions, that it wouldn’t hurt his family to have good relations with her.

The two parted ways after arriving at the inn, and Shu Yu quickly took Ying Xi back to Jiangyuan County directly.

By the time they got home, it was already evening, and Shu Yu as usual first went to the old lady’s courtyard to see her.

Just as she reached the courtyard door, she heard Little Zaozao’s giggling from inside.

Her smile immediately spread across her lips. Upon entering, she indeed saw the old lady and Shuyou teasing the very lively little girl.

Shuyou didn’t dare to get too close. She was almost nine months along now, and her due date was approaching; her whole body had become very cumbersome.

When the old lady saw Shu Yu, she handed Zaozao over to Hua Xian.

Zaozao, suddenly handed over to someone else, started babbling and reached out for the old lady again.

But the latter directly went into the inner room, not responding to her.

Little Zaozao was a bit unhappy, pouting as if she was about to cry.

Shu Yu stood in front of her, diverting her attention. She was dazed for a moment before giggling again.

At this moment, the old lady came out too, holding a letter in her hand.

”Here, your letter.”

Shu Yu asked curiously, ”Who sent it?”

”It’s from Linzhang Prefecture.” The old lady nudged her, ”Alright, go read it somewhere else, don’t let Zaozao pull at you. This girl is quite strong now.”
