The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1535: Chapter 1534: I’ve Seen That Person Before

Kong Zhiyou first thanked Meng Yunzheng, then stepped on the footstool to get into the carriage, and sat opposite Shu Yu.

Shu Yu thought she at least should say thank you, but unexpectedly, after getting into the carriage, she just lowered her head in silence.

Shu Yu, ”...” If there’s nothing else, she would like to go home; the old lady at home was still worried.

Kong Zhiyou exhaled and raised her eyes, saying, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, I thought this time when you testified for Qiuju, you would use the chance to humiliate and deal with me, trampling me underfoot. Unexpectedly... I was too narrow-minded, I’m sorry.”

”Is this what you wanted to say?”

”Of course not.”

So Shu Yu waited for her apology to be followed by thanks, but she did not say it; instead, she took out a few sheets of paper from her sleeve and handed them to her.

Shu Yu asked suspiciously, ”What is this?”

She did not take it, so Kong Zhiyou put it away again and said, ”Actually, today in court, I lied about some things.”

Shu Yu frowned, ”So?”

Kong Zhiyou pursed her lips, ”I told the county magistrate that I let Dongmei go home to reunite with her family because I appreciated her taking care of me for many days. But in fact, it wasn’t for that reason; I let her go home because I wanted to go to my father-in-law’s study to get something.”

”Get something?” Shu Yu’s eyes instinctively fell on the papers in her hand.

Kong Zhiyou confirmed her guess, ”Yes, exactly. Two days ago, I learned that my father-in-law would also go out, so I planned to let Dongmei go home so that I would be the only one left at home, making it easier to fetch things from the study.”

Was it... stealing perhaps?

”I just didn’t expect my father-in-law to be at home. When I walked to the study, I heard some noises inside and realized something unexpected had happened. I originally planned to leave but then heard violent noises coming from inside. I didn’t want to meddle, but couldn’t resist going in to check, and who would have thought I’d see him, with eyes wide open, toppled over a chair on the ground, already breathless.”

At that moment, Kong Zhiyou was shocked and instinctively wanted to run.

But after running a few steps, she came back, confirmed that Chen Ji was indeed dead, and by a fluke didn’t report immediately, but instead finished searching the study for the items before rushing out to scream that a life had been lost.

At that time, she had no idea Chen Ji was killed by Qiuju, but without other suspects, she naturally dragged her enemy down first.

Kong Zhiyou originally intended to do a little something to directly point the evidence to Qiuju. However, she delayed finding the items in the study a bit, and if she delayed even more, it would arouse others’ suspicion.

Moreover, the more you do, the more mistakes you make, and if by some chance she got herself involved, it would be bad.

Upon hearing this, Shu Yu asked, ”What are these papers? Why did you want to find them?”

Kong Zhiyou pulled her lips into a smile, but her pallor was so poor, her smile looked aged.

She said, ”Qiuju didn’t see that lascivious old man, but I did.”

Shu Yu was shocked in her heart and slowly sat up straight, ”You saw him?”

”Yes, it happened five or six days ago. At that time, I had just finished my confinement and originally planned to return to Mother’s home.” But halfway there, she heard that her cousin, who always had a conflict with her, was also returning to Mother’s home. If she returned in such a miserable state, she would definitely get ridiculed by her. She didn’t want to be mocked, so, ”I returned halfway to the Chen Family.”

”I sent Dongmei back to inform my mother to prevent her from waiting for me at home. So I entered the house alone, but unexpectedly, there was a guest at home.”
