The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1507: Chapter 1507: Assessment of Wei Ronghua

Shu Yu sat down right behind them and ordered a bowl of noodles and a plate of peanuts.

The noodles were for Ying Xi to eat, while Shu Yu sipped water and ate peanuts.

Shu Yu wanted to inquire a bit about the situation from those two staff members, so she took two bites and looked for an opportunity to strike up a conversation with them.

Unexpectedly, after they drank the noodle soup, they started talking on their own.

”Starving, finally got something to eat.”

”It’s all because of that Grandson Feng. Since he came, we’ve been working until late every evening before we can go home. You tell me, during Mid-Autumn Festival the shop is idle with no customers, why do we have to stay so late? I don’t know what the boss is thinking by having someone like him watching us.”

”No kidding? That guy really thinks he’s the shopkeeper. When Manager Wei was in charge, he knew when to be lenient and when to be strict. We’d finish our tasks and occasionally sneak a break, and the shopkeeper wouldn’t mind. But this Grandson Feng, even going to the toilet, he asks this and that, afraid we’ll fall in.”

”We’re eating, don’t talk about such gross stuff.”

They paused for a bit, slurped some noodles, felt comfortable, and then continued talking.

”Why do you think Manager Wei doesn’t make any moves even when pressed so hard by Grandson Feng? When we first came, Manager Wei had one trick after another, we were truly convinced by him. But Grandson Feng has nothing but the boss’s backing, he’s just a fool, and Manager Wei can’t deal with him?”

”Hehe, I know this.” The staff speaking suddenly lowered his voice, ”I suspect Manager Wei doesn’t want to stay at Red Cake.”

”Why do you say that?”

”A while ago, someone from the prefecture came, chatted with Manager Wei, and I happened to overhear. We all know, Manager Wei was originally the chief manager in the prefecture but was forced out by an Old Master Miao and came to our small county town. Now that Old Master Miao has left the prefecture, I guess Manager Wei still wants to go back to the prefecture and find a suitable shop.”

”Are you serious?” The other person was surprised and stopped eating.

”It’s just my guess. Think about it, the current boss doesn’t favor the shopkeeper. He brought in Grandson Feng obviously to replace him. If the shopkeeper continues, he’ll be dismissed eventually, so he might as well leave to find new opportunities.”

”You’re right. Ever since the new boss took over the shop, no matter what Manager Wei says, the boss opposes. Just take the Furong Cake incident, without the shopkeeper pledging a military order, the new boss still wouldn’t agree. As it turned out, Furong Cake received the Madam of County Magistrate’s praise and sold well. I originally thought after this, the new boss would rely more on Manager Wei, but...”

The person shook his head as he spoke, ”The shopkeeper is disheartened.”

Both of them sighed together and began lamenting for their own futures.

Shu Yu heard this and didn’t continue listening.

She left some copper coins and took Ying Xi away from the noodle stall.

From those two staff members, Shu Yu got a more direct understanding of Wei Ronghua.

He has the skills, he’s good at managing subordinates, knows how to seize opportunities to plan shop business, and daringly pledging a military order shows courage. Furthermore... he has thoughts of switching jobs.

But before leaving the shop, he’s somewhat passive and doesn’t plan to continue handling interpersonal relationships within.

Nevertheless, he’s still doing his job wholeheartedly, and that’s enough; no one can be perfect.
