The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1521: Chapter 1521: Impossible Amnesty

Second Master was working on the Manor, and in a state of mental distraction, he made a mistake. The officers on the Manor were already dissatisfied with him, so they took the opportunity to send him back to reclaim wasteland and plant crops.

This undoubtedly gave him a push on the already precarious edge of collapse, directly sending him down.

But the matter was not over. Without the Manor’s work, the improving life of the second branch was knocked back to its original state. The main branch and they were already at odds, so harsh mockery was inevitable.

Second Master, in a moment of despair, went and jumped into the river.

It was fortunate that the weather was hot at that time, so he did not freeze to death. Moreover, there were people swimming downstream seeking relief from the heat, who rescued him. However, although he survived, his mental state was no longer normal.

Shu Yu placed the letter aside, knowing that Second Master’s situation was yet another disaster for the Shu family’s second branch. She feared his future days would be even harder.

But all of this was no longer her concern. Shu Yu put away the letter and prepared to write back to Fang Xiyue.

She had long known about the new emperor not granting amnesty to the entire world. She also knew that the new emperor not only wouldn’t grant amnesty before, but for a long time afterward either.

During the reign of the previous emperor, there were multiple amnesties for various reasons.

In his view, it was a show of benevolent governance and imperial kindness, but for many, it was a disaster.

Although pardoned criminals were not allowed to return to their original places, it didn’t stop some vicious people from refusing to change their ways, even thinking that their crimes didn’t matter. When they encountered an amnesty, they would still return and sought various ways to retaliate against victims.

In any case, after each amnesty, there was always a period with frequent cases, and the people suffered greatly.

The new emperor understood these drawbacks deeply, so from his term onward, he intended to reduce the frequency of amnesties. He was extremely cautious with amnesties and they were conditional and restricted.

Shu Yu knew about this, so after being exiled, she did not calmly wait for the chance of an amnesty, because it wouldn’t come. She swiftly sought opportunities and directly extricated herself from the exile area.

Now it’s been over half a year since the new emperor ascended the throne, during this period, the imperial court had many significant events, presumably many people had seen the situation clearly.

Therefore, Ma Lu’s choice to work beside Lord Cheng, with his skills, was very wise.

Shu Yu finished writing the letter and also went to the storeroom to choose a gift for congratulations.

The next day, she sent the items out.

It was exactly the Mid-Autumn Festival. Last year, Shu Yu was on the road back from the Capital during Mid-Autumn, missing the day of reunion.

This year, everyone was here, it truly was a day of genuine reunion.

Early in the morning, Daniu distributed Mid-Autumn gifts and then rushed back to the county town.

Then Lu Dasong and Madam Li also came over, Madam Liang and Lu Sixing brought the children after noon, as for Third Lu and Yuan Shanchuan, they would come after finishing their work.

By evening, the Lu family was complete, everyone gathered together, surrounding the old lady in the middle.

Not only the Lu family, but also the Meng family, Old Doctor Zhao, even Lanhua’s fiancé Yu Fenglin came.

Yu Fenglin was alone, and it was more lively at the Lu family.

The Lu family had decorated early with colorful lanterns, the corridors were filled with many lanterns, even staying indoors there was a festive atmosphere.

These decorations were arranged by Shuyou and Meng Han, these days, Shuyou came up with ideas, Meng Han led the servants to work, full of enthusiasm.
