The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1539: Chapter 1539: Uncovering the Truth

Shu Yu took the child in her arms and sat opposite the old lady, while playing with Little Zaozao, she recounted what had happened in the court.

The old lady sighed repeatedly, ”That Chen Family really knows how to make trouble. That Chen Ji, he’s calculating like anything. Even if he’s well-read and a Scholar, his character is truly lacking. Qiuju got what she deserved. If she hadn’t entangled with Scholar Chen, she’d still be Miss Kong’s maid. If Chen Ji wanted to give her away, he’d have to get Miss Kong’s permission.”

Well, she ended up not being Kong Zhiyou’s maid, but a concubine of the Chen Family. Isn’t it just as the Chen family father and son say?

The old lady shook her head and sighed, then asked, ”How about Miss Kong?”

The old lady didn’t know the conflict between Kong Zhiyou and Shu Yu, Ding Yuehua, only that when her granddaughter had her Coming-of-age ceremony, that girl had also come to give a gift. Although she didn’t seem very familiar with Yu, after all, they knew each other and had some connections, so it was inevitable to pay some attention.

It was her first time hearing that Miss Kong was six months pregnant and had a miscarriage, the Chen Family is like a den of wolves, even more unreasonable than those fierce families in their village, actually protecting the culprit Qiuju.

If she encountered such a thing, the old lady would definitely fight with her own old man.

Shu Yu shook her head, ”I don’t know, but now there’s only Scholar Chen in the Chen Family, without his father, who is a senior, suppressing him, he shouldn’t dare to do anything. Kong Zhiyou has the Kong Family backing her, which is bigger and more influential than the Chen Family, and having learned a lesson once, she probably won’t suffer again.”

The old lady thought it made sense, and after expressing some opinions about the incident, she changed the subject.

In the afternoon, Meng Yunzheng came over. He moved quickly and had already figured out the intentions of that aunt in Liufang Alley.

As expected, it was related to Chen Ji.

”Chen Ji deliberately approached that aunt, praising her son for being smart, saying that if he would study and become literate, he would surely earn fame in the future. Later, he mentioned that he was eager for talent and wanted to take him as a student. However, even though he had the Scholar title, he was too old, and he feared that his own mediocre exam results might mislead the young boy.”

Chen Ji guided that aunt to think of Meng Yunzheng. Chen Ji analyzed that Meng Yunzheng had won three consecutive minor competitions, had great skills, and it was most suitable to have him for enlightenment. Moreover, since they lived in Liufang Alley and were neighbors, it wasn’t right to charge money.

Didn’t that aunt get tempted then? But she also knew that Meng Yunzheng, although appearing kind, was actually difficult to approach.

So Chen Ji gave her another idea, advising her to leave her son at the doorstep of Meng Yunzheng.

Chen Ji pretended to be very concerned about the progress of the child’s apprenticeship, he frequently came to inquire and offered suggestions.

Whether it was the aunt or the child, they were no match for Chen Ji. They were mostly coaxed into revealing everything to him.

In other words, Chen Ji used a child who wouldn’t be suspected to keep an eye on Meng Yunzheng, and they were completely unaware, being utterly exploited.

But now, with Chen Ji dead, and in such a manner, that aunt realized he wasn’t a good person and began to doubt his words. She already felt that he wasn’t reliable. At the very least, when Meng Yunzheng approached her, she was still scolding Chen Ji, it seems she won’t let her son stay at the door of the Meng family any longer.

However, though the truth is clear, there’s still no clue about that mysterious person.
