The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1528: Chapter 1528: Shu Yu: Is This About Me Again?

Scholar Chen furrowed his brow in thought for a moment, ”I’ve never heard my father say he was going out.”

The testimonies of these four people were different, and Lord Xie found this quite strange.

Although Kong Zhiyou’s suspicion was slightly greater, there was still no direct evidence to prove who poisoned Chen Ji.

Just then, an officer hurriedly ran in from outside, handing him a note, and whispered, ”Lord, we have checked all the pharmacies in Jiangyuan County. Here’s a list of all the customers who bought arsenic; there’s no one from the Chen Family or the Kong Family, and not Qiuju either.”

Arsenic is a poison, and although sometimes it may be used for medical purposes, according to Dasu law, anyone buying arsenic must register and specify its use.

The note brought by the officer was very detailed, recording the information of those who purchased arsenic, all traceable.

After reading it, Lord Xie set the note aside, but his brows tightened.

He asked the arrest officer, ”Has the Chen Family been thoroughly searched?”

The arrest officer nodded, ”It’s been searched. Aside from a bit of chaos in Chen Ji’s study, nothing unusual has been found elsewhere.”

But the chaos in the study was only left due to Chen Ji’s painful struggle after being poisoned.

Lord Xie then turned to Kong Zhiyou, ”It was you who came to report last night, claiming the culprit is Qiuju. Do you have any evidence?”

Kong Zhiyou didn’t have any, but...

”The arsenic was put in the noodles, but I don’t cook. As Qiuju said, the father-in-law is particular about what he eats. I, not knowing how to make noodles, made something the father-in-law wouldn’t eat.”

Qiuju immediately retorted, ”He ate Instant Noodles, which don’t need much preparation; just soaking in hot water is enough. It was just you and the father-in-law at home; he surely wouldn’t make a bowl of noodles with arsenic for himself, right? Who else but you?”

Shu Yu, ”...” Good heavens, implicated her again?

Chen Ji could eat anything good, but eats Instant Noodles?

If word spreads that an arsenic-laden Instant Noodle was eaten at her house, she wouldn’t be disgraced?

Indeed, Lord Xie instinctively glanced at her.

Shu Yu was seen to have the corners of her mouth twitch twice.

What kind of situation is this?

She rubbed the corner of her head, stepped forward, ”Lord, I have a question to ask.”

”Monarch Lu Xiang, please go ahead.”

”Does the Chen Family have any other Instant Noodles?”

The same constable answered, ”No, the one Chen Ji ate was the only bowl.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”So, as long as the arsenic is placed on the single noodle cake, he doesn’t need anyone to make it for him. If he’s hungry and wants to eat, he can soak it himself as well. Scholar Chen doesn’t cook either; with Instant Noodles, it’s simple, just need to boil a kettle of hot water.”

”Right.”

Everyone nodded, so it’s not certain that it was Kong Zhiyou who poisoned it at home.

Anyone could put arsenic on the noodle cake, even Qiuju with an alibi could do it.

Kong Zhiyou looked at Shu Yu with some surprise, not expecting her to speak for her and solve her biggest dilemma, turning around factors unfavorable to her.

Qiuju’s face, however, changed slightly, and she pressed her lips together tightly.

Shu Yu didn’t look at either of them but continued speaking, ”The problem now is, how to ensure Chen Ji would definitely go to eat that noodle cake.”

Before Lord Xie could ponder further, Meng Yunzheng immediately turned and asked Scholar Chen, ”Does Chen Ji have a habit of eating late-night snacks?”

”Ah? Ah.” Scholar Chen was taken aback for a moment, subconsciously shook his head, ”No, no, he doesn’t.”
