The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1301: Chapter 1301: Ruan Dali of the Ruan Family Village

Ruan Dali was from Ruan Family Village. After his father earned some money outside, he opened a small workshop in the village—it was really just a tiny one, just a small yard set up in their own backyard.

Once the workshop was running, he started purchasing rapeseed and worked together with his younger brother.

At first, things were fine. People in the nearby villages didn’t want to travel far to buy oil, and seeing that Father Ruan offered a fair price and good quality, they would buy directly from him.

However, gradually, people in the village saw that his family was making money and started coming over to buy on credit from time to time.

Leading the charge was the wife from the village chief’s house, who Father Ruan found hard to refuse.

Mother Ruan did go over to speak to them, and though Village Chief Ruan publicly scolded his wife, their family continued to buy on credit.

Later, others followed suit, insinuating that since everyone was from Ruan Family Village and their ancestors were one family, knowing each other well, they wouldn’t default on him.

Thus, not only did the Ruan family fail to recover the money, but they also had to put up their own money, leaving the people of Ruan Family Village still dissatisfied.

Later, when the workshop couldn’t continue, Ruan’s younger uncle fell ill, and Father Ruan needed money, so he went to those owing him.

Unexpectedly, not only did he fail to get back the money, but he also ended up in a quarrel, which escalated into a fight. Father Ruan was hit in the face with a stone, leaving him covered in blood.

Village Chief Ruan stepped in, but only muddied the waters by scolding the attacker yet also blaming Father Ruan for being too harsh.

The Ruan family became very disheartened with Ruan Family Village. Although Ruan’s younger uncle later recovered, Father Ruan and he went out to find work, but they reduced contact with the villagers.

At that time, Ruan Dali was already thirteen or fourteen years old, and his youthful vigor made him hate this even more.

He had the skill of oil pressing and had fallen out with the Ruan Family Village people as well.

Shu Yu carefully considered him, and later, went back to ask Xiang and Fu Xiangdi.

The two were well aware of the Ruan family’s misfortunes. Although they didn’t have much interaction with Ruan Dali, they knew the situation of his family.

Shu Yu, impressed by his skill, decided to keep him. After getting to know him, Shu Yu found Ruan Dali to be quite a good person.

Even if Daniu didn’t mention it today, Shu Yu had already been thinking of this idea.

Since they were on the same page, the first candidate was decided.

With this setup, Luo Chun would oversee the melon seeds workshop, while Ruan Dali would manage the oil pressing workshop.

There weren’t many people at the workshop now, so having the two manage it temporarily was no problem.

After confirming the choice, Daniu went to call him over.

Ruan Dali was initially a bit uneasy, clearly aware of his disadvantages. Being from Ruan Family Village and dragged down by its issues, he knew the boss would be wary of him.

So he worked extra hard, not hoping for much attention from the boss, only to keep this job.

His parents were both getting old. His father, having been hit on the head by a stone back then, still suffered from aftereffects and often had headaches, so he could only tend a few acres of land at home. Even so, heavy and tiring work was out of the question.

But now, the boss came, not searching for anyone else but him, making Ruan Dali very nervous.

Who would have thought that as soon as he reached the office, Shu Yu made him sit and offered him tea, the next sentence mentioning a promotion to steward.

Ruan Dali’s hand holding the teacup froze, ”Boss, are you, you serious?”

”Of course I’m serious. Once you’re the steward, I’ll also raise your wages. Work well from now on, and if there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask Daniu. You can also bring up any suggestions so we can all discuss them together. As our workshop grows bigger, the responsibilities you’ll manage will also increase. I hope you won’t let me down.”
