The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1302: Chapter 1302: Visitors from the Capital

Ruan Dali’s face flushed with excitement, and he nodded repeatedly, ”Don’t worry, Boss. I will definitely do a good job. I will surely live up to your trust.”

Shu Yu nodded and talked to him about some points of attention, asking him to plan the direction after becoming a steward.

She still hoped that Ruan Dali could take some time to read and recognize characters, as the workshop would grow bigger in the future. It would be inevitable to handle some accounts and contracts, and even collaborating and negotiating with outsiders would require knowledge.

Ruan Dali was literate, having seen ledgers when his own family built a workshop, and learned from his father and uncle.

The ledger of those in Ruan Family Village who bought on credit was also recorded with his help.

But he only knew some common simple characters; he got confused with more complicated ones.

Now his status was different, and the responsibility on his shoulders increased.

Fortunately, Ruan Dali was a man with a plan, knowing that he must study harder, or else no one would respect him even as a steward.

Shu Yu was very satisfied with his thoughts and, after a few words of encouragement, got up to take him and Daniu to the oil mill.

Then, in front of everyone, she officially announced the decision to promote Ruan Dali to steward.

”... Ruan Dali’s performance in recent days has been seen by me and Steward Lu. From now on, he will be the steward of the oil mill here. If you have any questions, you can go to him or to Steward Lu. I said before that everyone here is the same; anyone with the ability and skills can be promoted. We will notice those who do well, and I hope you all, like Steward Ruan, will work hard. There are still many opportunities in the future.”

Everyone was taken aback, and then they immediately began to congratulate Ruan Dali.

After Shu Yu finished speaking, she and Daniu left the oil mill.

She asked Daniu to put in a little extra effort and pay more attention recently, then left the workshop.

Shu Yu thought that the people coming from the capital would take at least half a month to arrive, but unexpectedly, they came earlier than she imagined.

Ten days later, a carriage slowly stopped not far from Lu’s Workshop.

A man around thirty years old got off the carriage. He looked at the workshop ahead and then turned to the person still in the carriage, saying, ”Young Master, we’ve arrived.”

The curtain of the carriage was lifted, and Ren Huai casually glanced around and then got off, ”Let’s go, have a look.”

The two walked one after the other to the entrance of the workshop. Seeing this, the gatekeeper Old Yang immediately stood up, approached the door, and asked with a smile, ”Whom is the sir looking for?”

”Oh, I’m not looking for anyone.” Ren Huai replied cheerfully and respectfully, ”Sir, we came from afar and saw this place has buildings and people, so we thought we might ask for a cup of water and some directions.”

Old Yang turned to take the kettle off the stove and poured two cups of hot water, ”It’s normal to encounter difficulties when you’re away from home. I understand; there’s always enough hot water. Here, in this cold weather, just right to warm you up.”

Ren Huai thanked him, holding the cup, blowing on it while casually asking, ”Old sir, this workshop seems pretty big. What do you do here?”

Old Yang chuckled, ”You really are from out of town, aren’t you, not even knowing what we do here. Look, see the sign above? This is Lu’s Workshop. We deal in the Lu family’s business; everyone in Jiangyuan County knows.”
