The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1332: Chapter 1332: Old Master Miao’s Change

“Someone with a vendetta against Young Master Meng?” Qi Lie stood up, furrowing his brow in thought.

Shu Yu sighed, “Yun has thought it through carefully, we have ruled out all possibilities. The most likely candidate is Gong Qiu, but he was beheaded last year. Honestly, this matter has weighed heavily on our minds. If we can find the person behind this sooner and resolve our doubts, we would be more at ease.”

Qi Lie pressed his lips tightly together; if this is the case, they could follow this clue regarding Meng Yunzheng for investigation.

But as Monarch Lu Xiang mentioned, Young Master Meng’s greatest enemy over the years was Gong Qiu. If even he couldn’t figure it out, how could they?

“No matter what, I still want to take a look at the black market.”

Shu Yu nodded, “Alright, perhaps there are places we haven’t noticed where Lord might find something. Should we leave now?”

“Let’s go.”

The two got up and headed out the door, Shu Yu instructed Ruan Dali and then left the workshop with Qi Lie.

They didn’t delay and headed straight for the black market after passing through the main gate.

Due to the relocation of the black market, the road up the mountain was left uncleared, and as the weather warmed, tender green grass began to grow thickly.

Shu Yu, Ying Xi, Qi Lie, and two of their subordinates, a group of five, walked while observing the surrounding environment.

Upon reaching halfway up the mountain, the road ahead grew considerably narrower.

This section of the road was somewhat different from before, as it had been redone.

Originally, the black market’s path from halfway up the mountain upwards was serpentine and quite complex for concealment.

However, Meng Yunzheng planned to use the future estate for a school, so a flatter road was more appropriate, prompting renovation.

But as Shu Yu and the others suspected, Steward Guo, although having sold the estate, still sent people to watch in secret, fearing Old Master Miao might sell it again.

To avoid suspicion, Old Master Miao started renovations within days, hiring people from the prefecture.

The road being repaired was the one in front of them.

As for inside the estate, Meng Yunzheng had his own designs and plans, which he certainly wouldn’t allow others to know. Once the external road was done, he would find trustworthy craftsman Lu Erbai for renovation.

If any secrets within the estate were uncovered during repairs, they could be promptly informed.

However, the road repair took quite a long time. Old Master Miao continually raised various issues to halt construction, revising blueprints before proceeding with renovations.

The craftsmen were frustrated by his troublesome behavior, causing a disruption that led them to work elsewhere on housing repairs, stopping the road work for over half a month.

But this was exactly what Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng wanted; they were intentionally delaying.

Then, halfway through the road repair, the Emperor passed away.

Old Master Miao operated a brothel; with the Emperor’s passing, his business had to pause for several months.

With business slacking here, Old Master Miao decided to pursue other ventures, taking his money and leaving the prefecture to develop other undertakings, making the management of the estate her more neglected.

Honestly, Shu Yu was quite surprised that Old Master Miao wanted to explore other trades.

Could it truly be due to her previous suggestion for doing more charitable acts? Shu Yu found it unlikely; she didn’t possess such influence to prompt Old Master Miao to change his entrenched views with a single sentence.

Nonetheless, Old Master Miao’s approach provided an excuse to delay the black market’s renovation.

Those watching in secret were no longer there.

Thus, the estate appeared exceptionally desolate at this time.
