The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1307: Chapter 1307: Old Lady Ruan’s Current Situation

Ren Huai looked at the completely unrepaired collapsed ruins, unable to speak for a long time.

Half of the Ruan family’s courtyard wall had been smashed by Lord Yu, and this half included the kitchen area.

Now the kitchen was unusable, so the Ruan family set up a makeshift small stove on the untouched side of the courtyard wall, with a small roof over it, appearing especially shabby.

At this moment, Old Lady Ruan was cooking on the stove.

Ren Huai couldn’t help but take two steps forward, looking at Old Lady Ruan’s hunched back and thin figure, slightly furrowing his brow.

After a while, a limping person came out of the house, leaning on a crutch, and approached Old Lady Ruan, asking, ”Mother, hurry up!”

Ren Huai was surprised, so this was Monarch Lu Xiang’s uncle? He really did have his leg broken.

Old Lady Ruan responded softly and began to stuff firewood into the stove.

The man was obviously very irritable, seeing Old Lady Ruan not speaking, he turned around and went back inside.

But when he passed by the rack, he stood on one foot, using his crutch to knock the rack to the ground, cursing, ”Always drying these wild vegetables, eating wild vegetables every day, people are turning green from all this eating.”

Old Lady Ruan quickly stood up, ”Don’t be angry, don’t be angry, I’ll fry eggs for you today, I’ll eat the wild vegetables myself, you go back to your room to rest.”

”Just cook your meal.”

The man stepped on the wild vegetables on the ground and went back inside, without even looking at Old Lady Ruan.

Old Lady Ruan sighed, wiped her tears, squatted down to pick up the wild vegetables, put them back on the rack, and then continued cooking.

After a short while, a woman came in from outside carrying a basket, walked up to Old Lady Ruan, and complained, ”Mother, wash your own clothes from now on. Changing once a month, they’re so dirty they can’t be cleaned. Can you change them more often next time?”

Old Lady Ruan pinched her own clothes, ”Boss’s wife, this is my only warm cotton-padded coat. It was too cold recently, so I could only wear this. I really had no choice.”

”What, are you blaming me for dismantling your other cotton-padded coat to make clothes for the kids? You have no choice, but do I have a choice? The kids are growing every day, their trousers are pinching their ankles, what can I do? If it weren’t for you offending that Lu family girl, would our family be like this?”

Old Lady Ruan immediately began to cry, ”All right, all right, it’s all my fault. I’ll go kneel and kowtow to that girl, I’ll beg her. Let her vent her grievances and hatred on me, spare you all. If she refuses, I’ll stab myself twice.”

The boss’s wife sneered, ”See if you can even meet her first?”

A voice came from inside impatiently, ”What’s all the noise about, is the food ready? If not, get out.”

Old Lady Ruan dared not respond, the boss’s wife snorted and went to hang the clothes.

When the meal was ready, Old Lady Ruan served a bowl to each person.

The others sat in the living room to eat, but she took a bowl of rice soup and half a bowl of wild vegetables, sitting behind the stove, swallowing with tears.

Ren Huai didn’t watch any longer and turned to leave Ruan Family Village.

After getting on the carriage, Steward Xu shook his head and said, ”This is too miserable. After all, Old Lady Ruan didn’t take anyone’s life, Monarch Lu Xiang has returned, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law were exposed before they were sold. Their house is smashed, and their uncle’s leg is broken, isn’t that enough?”

Ren Huai glanced at him, said nothing, just instructed the coachman, ”Go to Shangshi Village.”
