The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1326: Chapter 1326: Ten Taels in a Red Envelope

The old lady sat down by the bed and smiled at Zhou Qiao.

The latter was sweating profusely, her expression a bit anxious, “Grandmother, the child…”

“The child is fine.” The old lady knew what she was thinking. Madam Li’s search for childbirth secrets earlier must have put pressure on Zhou Qiao. These days, having the first child as a boy is always good for the mother.

But the old lady didn’t care about that. She patted Zhou Qiao’s hand and said softly, “Your mother-in-law just came out with the child to show everyone. The child looks good, like Daniu, but the mouth especially looks like yours, very beautiful. She will surely be a pretty little girl in the future.”

As she spoke, she took out a red envelope from her sleeve, “Here, this is for you. You’ve worked hard giving birth; take it to buy something you want as a reward for yourself. I’ve prepared a separate gift for the child.”

Zhou Qiao was startled, about to refuse, “No, Grandmother, I can’t accept this.”

“Take it. If you refuse, I will not be happy.”

Zhou Qiao looked at Daniu, and he nodded, “It’s Grandmother’s kind gesture, accept it.”

“Thank you, Grandmother.”

The old lady laughed pleasantly, “Alright, you just gave birth and must be tired. In a moment, Yu will have someone bring you something to eat. After you eat, rest first. If you feel any discomfort, tell Daniu.”

“Okay.”

The old lady didn’t say much more and soon got up to leave.

Just as she turned around, she added, “Your mother-in-law really liked holding the child just now. She just speaks harshly; don’t take it to heart and take care during your recovery.”

Zhou Qiao felt a slight ache in her eyes as she watched the old lady leave, tightly clutching the red envelope in her hand.

When no one was around, she looked at the silver notes inside the red envelope and found there were actually ten taels, even Daniu was surprised.

He knew the old lady was well off now, but taking out ten taels all at once was not easy.

The old lady went out and just happened to see Yu having someone bring food over, so she told Madam Li, who was still showing off there, to take the child inside to avoid the wind, as the weather wasn’t very warm.

Shu Yu was just about to ask about Zhou Qiao’s condition when Ying Xi came over hurriedly, “Miss, someone from the county office is here.”

“County office?” Shu Yu was taken aback.

Ying Xi quickly nodded and said softly, “It’s Lord Hu. Around noon today, I heard that the street was particularly lively, and Lord Xiang personally went out of the city to greet someone.”

Shu Yu suddenly understood, “Is it the Imperial Decree Officer and… someone from the palace purchasing department?”

“From what Lord Hu implied, it seems like it.”

Joy spread across Shu Yu’s face, and she turned to the old lady, “Grandmother, I’ll go over there for a bit.”

The old lady, who was also listening to Ying Xi, knew about the palace’s interest in sunflower oil. Hearing this, she nodded eagerly, “Go ahead, go ahead, oh my, it’s truly a double blessing today.”

Shu Yu hurried to the front hall. Hu Li must have heard about the commotion in the backyard, so when he saw Shu Yu, he stood up and bowed with a smile, “Congratulations, congratulations, your house has welcomed a daughter, the Lu family brother is now a father.”

Shu Yu politely waved her hand, indicating him to sit, then eagerly asked, “Did someone come from the palace purchasing department with the Imperial Decree Officer?”

“Yes, but Lord Xiang asked me to tell you that the person who came is not an ordinary palace purchaser, but… Lord Qi.”

“Lord Qi?” Who?

Hu Li explained the background of Qi Lie.
