The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1331: Chapter 1331: Qi Lie’s Purpose for Coming

Shu Yu poured tea for him, “Lord Qi, are you satisfied?”

“Not bad. In a couple of days, have those ten barrels of oil packed up for me to take away.”

“In a couple of days?” Shu Yu was surprised, “My Lord is returning to the Capital?”

Qi Lie nodded, “This time I came, it was a temporary assignment; it’s not good to delay for too long. The purchase of sunflower oil should have been handled by the palace procurement. I have other matters, so the Emperor entrusted this to me, giving me a legitimate reason to come to Jiangyuan County.”

Finally, the topic was brought up.

Shu Yu sat up slightly, knowing that this matter might have something to do with himself.

“I wonder what other important matters the Lord has on this visit. If you need any assistance, please feel free to ask.”

Qi Lie felt that this Monarch Lu Xiang was not quite what he had imagined, but being able to associate with someone like Meng Yunzheng indeed meant she was not a typical noble lady.

“I want to pay a visit to the black market.”

Qi Lie looked up, facing the direction of the black market.

Shu Yu blinked, not expecting his target to be the black market.

“Lord Qi…what do you intend to do at the black market?”

Qi Lie did not hide it from her, “The black market in the Dasu dynasty has only risen for a short ten-plus years, yet in just these years, it has spread to flourishing cities all over. Many officials in the court have countless ties to the black market. When the former Emperor was in power, he was not aware of the potential severe consequences, but the current Emperor will not allow such places to exist.”

Qi Lie’s face gradually darkened, thinking of something, “Initially, the black market was just selling some precious, shady items, but later it became more rampant, involving people, intelligence, goods, even hiring assassins. This is no longer simple trading but a formidable threat that cannot be ignored.”

For the Emperor, such an organization is nothing but a scourge.

But the worst part is that even the source of this scourge cannot be found; the true boss behind the scenes is still unknown.

A while ago, even people from the palace went missing, reportedly sold to the black market. Why would the black market want to buy people from the palace for no reason?

Shu Yu understood, “The Emperor wants to take down the black market?”

“Yes.”

Qi Lie furrowed his brows, “However, the other black markets are heavily guarded and tightly secured at the entrances. Even if we can get in, investigating is exceedingly difficult. Especially once discovered, they will be even more cautious, making it more difficult for us to find the person behind it.”

That’s how it is, but…

“So you want to check the black market in Jiangyuan County to see if you can find any clues?”

“Yes.” Qi Lie nodded, “I know that estate currently belongs to Meng Yunzheng.”

Shu Yu, “Indeed, that estate was bought by him. However…to be honest, when we wanted to buy the black market, the seller, seeing that the buyer was Yun, preferred to sell to someone else at a lower price rather than to him. We suspected whether there was some grudge between the black market and him. So after getting the estate, we wanted to investigate. But we’ve looked through the estate several times and found no clues.”

“Is there really such a thing?” This was something Qi Lie didn’t know.

The message Xiang Weinan relayed to the Emperor only briefly mentioned the current owner of the black market, but the complexities of how it was acquired weren’t mentioned.

Now what Shu Yu said provided Qi Lie with a direction.
