The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1327: Chapter 1327: Shu Yu Meets Qi Lie

Shu Yu suddenly understood, and then asked curiously, ”Sunflower oil is that important? The Emperor actually sent his trusted aides over?”

”Lord Xiang said there should be more than just this matter, though Lord Qi didn’t mention it. I think he plans to discuss it privately with Monarch Lu Xiang.” Hu Li lowered his voice, ”Lord Qi won’t stay long here; he just arrived today and plans to meet with Monarch Lu Xiang, which is why he sent me to invite you.”

Shu Yu got up, ”Then please wait a moment, I’ll go change my clothes and head out immediately.”

”Alright.”

Shu Yu moved swiftly and came out shortly afterwards.

When Hu Li and she headed out together, Ren Huai, who was keeping an eye on them, immediately noticed. He exchanged a glance with Steward Xu and saw the two of them hurriedly heading towards the county office.

Steward Xu asked quietly, ”Young Master, is Hu Li taking Monarch Lu Xiang to see Lord Qi?”

He thought it was simply Xiang Weinan calling Hu Li to notify him of something.

Now that Monarch Lu Xiang is going to the county office, it seems unlikely that it’s just to meet Xiang Weinan.

Ren Huai looked serious, feeling inexplicably anxious.

He tossed a few copper coins onto the stall and returned with Steward Xu, this time directly to the inn where they were staying.

Shu Yu followed Hu Li to the county office and also met the rumored Qi Lie.

The latter seemed quite curious about her, observing her for a while before smilingly saying, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, I’ve long heard your name.”

”Likewise.”

Qi Lie, ”... Likewise? I doubt you’ve heard of me.”

But Shu Yu did know the name Qi Lie. When Hu Li initially mentioned it, she hadn’t recalled at first.

Later on the way over, the memories slowly returned. This Qi Lie was indeed a character in the book, not often mentioned, but due to his frequent interactions with the male protagonist in the text, Shu Yu retained some impression.

It seems this person went to join the military soon after the new Emperor ascended, and later returned triumphantly, becoming a Great General admired by all.

Shu Yu thought the Great General should be a brawny type, but upon meeting, unexpectedly discovered the other was quite lean.

However, he was quite tall indeed, standing next to Xiang Weinan, even ten centimeters taller than him.

Qi Lie is yet to be promoted to General, but he already exudes a certain stern aura, likely due to serving as a guard beside the Emperor for long.

But facing Shu Yu, he still restrained somewhat.

Inviting Shu Yu to sit, after a few courteous words, he went straight to the point, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, how much sunflower oil do you have on hand now?”

”Not much, about ten barrels of the best quality.”

Shu Yu knew he wasn’t asking for all of it, just the high-quality sunflower oil suitable for the palace.

Actually, the sunflower oil from the oil pressing workshop was all pretty good, the best just looked a tad clearer, the difference wasn’t substantial.

Ten barrels? Indeed not much.

Although not much oil is used in daily life, the Imperial Kitchen is such a huge place, with so many people in the palace, the Emperor and nobles consume quite a bit of food per meal, thus ten barrels of oil would be used up quickly.

Qi Lie, ”When will the next batch of sunflower oil be available?”

”There’s still some main ingredients for pressing oil here, probably enough for about five barrels. The rest would have to wait until the sunflowers from the next crop mature and are harvested in two months.”

Qi Lie calculated in his mind, ”Understood. Let’s send ten barrels back to the Capital this time, and for the remaining five barrels, I’d trouble you to arrange for delivery to the Capital later.”

”That won’t be a problem.”
