The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1315: Chapter 1315: A Tiny Notion

Ren Huai spoke with difficulty, ”You’ve considered Linzhang Prefecture, thought about Changjin Prefecture, but have you ever thought about the capital?”

”The capital?” Shu Yu blinked her eyes, then sheepishly pinched her little finger, ”I did have this little thought once.”

”A little thought?”

Shu Yu nodded solemnly, then said seriously, ”But I immediately dispelled that thought without hesitation. After all, it’s the capital, under the emperor’s feet, the competition is too fierce. Although my melon seeds are something novel, are there few rare things in the capital? When opening a shop there, even with a few pulled up casually, they might have influential people backing them.”

Ren Huai: Don’t you also know a few influential people?

Shu Yu sighed, ”As for me, I just built a workshop, have little experience, and understand nothing. It’s not wise for me to take too big a step, or I’ll easily... sprain my ankle. Although I know Lord Qi and the others, they are important ministers in the imperial court, handling national affairs daily and facing the livelihood of the people. It’s inconvenient to trouble them with small matters like mine, okay to trouble them once or twice, but can the difficulties of opening a shop in a city as unfamiliar as the capital be just once or twice? If more, won’t it also annoy them?”

Speaking a bit much, Shu Yu picked up the teacup from the table and took two sips to soothe her throat, ”Selling melon seeds in the capital, that is a plan for later after I’ve accumulated experience and become adept in business. But I didn’t expect the Passion Fruit Shop to take a fancy to my melon seeds and propose such generous terms, I was truly flattered.”

She put down the teacup and said with a face full of sorrow, ”Ah, if only I had known, I wouldn’t have replied to the southwest side’s letter so quickly. Young Master Ren, do tell, isn’t this too unfortunate, just missing by two days and I could have saved so much trouble? I was so looking forward to cooperating with the Liao Family, but now...”

Ren Huai and Steward Xu looked as if they were constipated, their expressions extremely conflicted.

The private room suddenly became quiet, with only Shu Yu’s sighing and Ren Huai’s subtle sound of gritted teeth.

After a while, Ren Huai furrowed his brows and said, ”Can’t you change your mind?”

Shu Yu made a face, ”Those in the southwest are all friends, you know there are very rich people over there, but those without money are truly extremely poor. My friend was originally exiled there, and it’s all his savings that he used to purchase goods and open a shop. If I suddenly go back on this and say I won’t supply, wouldn’t that be pushing him into a dead end?”

”There can be compensation, if Monarch Lu Xiang can’t bear it, the Liao Family here...”

Shu Yu shook her head before he could finish, ”I can’t do the kind of thing that loses friends by breaking promises. Moreover, not just for the southwest, but for Changjin Prefecture, my husband needs to take the imperial examination. If he breaks his trust with others, it’s bad for his reputation.”

Ren Huai suddenly laughed, ”Monarch Lu Xiang seems to care quite a bit about her fiancé’s reputation.” Then how could you not care about your own, daring to treat your grandmother like that.

Shu Yu very seriously replied, ”Of course, it’s a duty as a fiancée.”

Ren Huai, ”...”

The private room fell silent again.

Shu Yu pursed her lips, and after a long pause, asked regretfully, ”Young Master Ren, does this mean we can’t cooperate?”

Ren Huai’s head started aching again, cooperation is definitely necessary.

Monarch Lu Xiang doesn’t know, but he knows that melon seeds have already become popular in the capital.

If the Passion Fruit Shop doesn’t cooperate, there are plenty of shops willing to sell.
