The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1299: Chapter 1299: I Have Good News for You

Shu Yu remembered what Xiao Shi said to her the day before she left when he mentioned dealing with the Xiao Family.

Political conflict can cause fathers and sons to become enemies and brothers to turn against each other, let alone a couple who were forced together.

Xiang Weinan chose to stand by the Emperor right from the start, not just for himself but for the Xiang Family as well; he had no other choice.

Who knows what will happen between him and Xiao Shi in the future?

But these matters seem too distant for her, so Shu Yu shook her head and stopped thinking about it, simply saying, ”Congratulations to Lord Xiang on his promotion. But once you leave, who knows what kind of person the new county magistrate will be? Things won’t be as convenient as they are now.”

No, she needs to think if there’s anything she needs from Xiang Weinan, and hurry to get it done before he leaves.

Xiang Weinan himself didn’t know who the new county magistrate was yet; he hadn’t received the information.

”With your abilities, is there anything you can’t accomplish? Besides, there’s Meng Yunzheng here, who can challenge you?”

Meng Yunzheng: ”You really think highly of us.”

Xiang Weinan snorted softly. Did he really think highly of them? He had experienced it firsthand.

”But you can relax. Although I’m not sure who will come, I speculate it should be someone conservative and easy-going.”

Under the governance of the former county magistrate, Jiangyuan County was both poor and chaotic. It was only after Xiang Weinan came that things slowly improved. Young and ambitious, he quickly began implementing large-scale reforms.

After a year and a half, Jiangyuan County is considerably better than it used to be.

However, some reform measures require long-term effectiveness, and if the new county magistrate is aggressive and completely differs in approach, Jiangyuan County will inevitably become chaotic again.

The Emperor sent him here not just to overthrow the county magistrate and the magistrate of Dongan Province, nor merely for him to gain more experience, but genuinely for the development of this area.

Therefore, regarding the successor to the county magistrate’s position, it will likely be someone moderate and conservative, just needing to continue Xiang Weinan’s reforms.

Shu Yu thought so too; once the person arrives, it’ll be evident.

After discussing, she noticed Meng Yunzheng and Xiang Weinan seemed to have more to talk about, so she didn’t linger.

The Capital needs a large quantity of goods, and she still needs to figure out a way.

Shu Yu left the county office and didn’t go home but headed straight to the workshop.

Daniu has been staying in the oil pressing workshop lately; he’s performing several roles due to a lack of capable people under Shu Yu. The newcomers are still being observed to see if they can manage independently, so Daniu has been working extra hard.

When Shu Yu arrived, he was sweating profusely, coming out from inside.

”Yu, why did you come over at this hour? It’s already afternoon.”

”I came to tell you something.”

”What’s the matter?” Daniu wiped his sweat as the two talked while heading towards Shu Yu’s office.

Both have set up offices here to discuss matters occasionally, mainly for the quiet.

Once they sat down, Ying Xi brought over a pot of boiled water and poured them some tea.

Daniu exhaled, ”Yu, go ahead, do you need me to help with something?”

”Not exactly help, I’ve come to tell you some good news.”

”Good news?”

”A letter from the Capital arrived; our sunflower oil has caught the palace’s attention, and we’ll be supplying some to them.”
