The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1253: Chapter 1253: A Letter from Linzhang Prefecture

Shu Yu listened and felt somewhat emotional.

Seeing this, Meng Yunzheng laughed and said, ”My father thinks it’s quite good. Over the years, Uncle has been supporting the Meng family. There’s no reason for him to come back and take away the fruits of others’ labor.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”At least your uncle genuinely cares for you.”

Suddenly, she thought of something and frowned, ”If Uncle Meng finds work in the escort agency, then you’ll be the only one at home, and you still have to study for your exams. Bringing Little Song Le back might be unsuitable. Maybe he should stay at my place instead; he’s used to it and has friends to play with there.”

But Meng Yunzheng shook his head; Song Le was adopted by him and his father.

Even though the two families are engaged, there’s no reason to just leave him to be raised by the Lu family.

It’s just that these days, they’ve been busy helping Zhao Xi prepare for the wedding and haven’t settled down yet, so it’s chaotic to bring the child over; thus, he stayed at the Lu family’s house for a few more days.

Once they have time, they will bring the child over.

He understood Shu Yu’s concerns and had already thought it through, ”The child still needs to stay with us, but it might be a few days. Tomorrow, my father and I will go to the prefecture to buy a house and servants. We’ll find someone to take care of him during the day, while I study. If Little Song Le gets bored, he can go to your house to play; it’s the same.”

But he still needs to come back at night.

Shu Yu asked, ”Going to the prefecture to buy servants?”

Meng Yunzheng nodded helplessly, ”There aren’t suitable people in the county town’s agency; I need an Attendant Student.”

Meng Yunzheng’s requirements are high. Since he plans to pursue a scholarly career, the Attendant Student by his side should at least be literate.

Such a person is hard to find in the agency in the county town.

He used to have an Attendant Student; when he first returned to the Gong Family, Gong Qiu equipped him with one, who was three years older than him.

But Meng Yunzheng knew that person was sent by Gong Qiu to monitor him.

Later, when he was manipulated by Madam Gong into becoming a ’Mute,’ Meng Yunzheng feigned disappointment and blamed the Attendant Student for neglecting his duties, using the opportunity to have him sold.

After that, he teamed up with Zhao Xi to secretly assist the Fifth Prince.

Honestly, without that Attendant Student, Meng Yunzheng felt less restrained in his actions.

Shu Yu understood, ”Alright then, if you’re sure, bring Little Song Le back after you’ve purchased the servants.”

Meng Yunzheng nodded and yawned.

Shu Yu saw his tired expression, knowing he had been quite exhausted and didn’t sleep well yesterday, decided not to stay any longer.

”You should get some rest; I’m heading home.”

”Stay a bit longer. I’m not tired; I want to talk to you more.”

Shu Yu stood up and pushed him toward his room, ”There will be plenty of chances to talk; you better go to sleep.”

She rudely shoved him through the door and shut it directly.

Meng Yunzheng, ”...” His fiancée seemed a bit domineering.

Shu Yu waved through the door, ”I’m leaving then.”

”Alright.” This time, he didn’t say anything more.

Shu Yu left the Meng family; she actually came today wanting to discuss the black market matters and get his advice, but since he was too tired, she decided to talk about it later.

Shu Yu walked to the mouth of Liufang Alley, got onto the carriage, and headed straight back to the Lu family.

Unexpectedly, just as she stepped in, Ying Dong handed her a letter.

”Second Miss, this letter is from Linzhang Prefecture.”
