The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1266: Chapter 1266: Visiting Dongqing Temple Every Month

There’s no need to go to the west of the city. It’s already late, and even if we went, we wouldn’t be able to find out more about Old Master Miao tonight.

However, Shu Yu knows of a place that Old Master Miao frequents and is important to him.

She looked at Meng Yunzheng, “Madam Hou mentioned to me that Old Master Miao visits Dongqing Temple outside the city every month.”

“Dongqing Temple?”

Shu Yu nodded, “Madam Hou overheard it accidentally. Old Master Miao used to converse with the former matron of Piaoxiang Courtyard. Every month, without fail, he visits Dongqing Temple at least once. Instead of aimlessly inquiring, we might as well go straight to Dongqing Temple tomorrow morning and ask.”

Madam Hou only revealed such information to Shu Yu after knowing she was a disciple of the Dongqing Temple master.

Clearly, Old Master Miao cares a lot about visiting Dongqing Temple. It’s possible that asking the people there might yield unexpected results.

But Madam Hou left Piaoxiang Courtyard thirteen years ago, so it’s uncertain if Old Master Miao’s habit still persists.

Meng Yunzheng pondered for a moment and nodded.

They came abruptly, unprepared. Initially planning to secretly gather information at Piaoxiang Courtyard, they almost got dragged inside by enthusiastic ladies just upon reaching the entrance. That place was like a wolf’s den—if they saw something they shouldn’t, how awkward would that be…

Now there’s a breakthrough point, and nothing could be better.

The two of them left the entrance of Piaoxiang Courtyard and headed straight for the city gate, booking two upper rooms at an inn not far from the gate for rest.

The next morning, they dressed up again and prepared to check out.

To their surprise, just as they reached the staircase, Shu Yu was suddenly pulled back by Meng Yunzheng, both hiding behind a corner.

“What’s wrong?”

Meng Yunzheng pointed to a man downstairs checking out, “I saw that man yesterday, at that manor in the black market.”

Though the man only passed by briefly, Meng Yunzheng had an excellent memory and recognized him at a glance.

Shu Yu frowned, “It seems our guess was right; Steward Guo indeed intends to sell the manor to Old Master Miao. Now he’s actively seeking him out.”

Seeing that the man was also checking out, it appears he left the manor after they did and has now come to the prefecture city.

However, he arrived late, likely not having met Old Master Miao, so he’s preparing to leave early in the morning to handle matters with him.

Tsk, to avoid selling the manor to us, Steward Guo not only slashed the price but also went to Miao’s place directly.

Absolutely! He’s got something! To hide!

The two exchanged a glance, and Meng Yunzheng said, “Looks like we have to act separately now.”

“Alright, you delay things here and try to create some trouble. I’ll head to Dongqing Temple right away to investigate the situation.” Shu Yu is more familiar with Dongqing Temple, so it’s more suitable for her to go.

Meng Yunzheng nodded, watching as the man left the inn and immediately followed.

After they left, Shu Yu went to the counter to check out, took the horse out, and rode straight out of the city gate.

Dongqing Temple wasn’t far from the city gate, and Shu Yu made her way up the mountain skillfully.

No matter when, there were always many pilgrims here. Especially in the morning, many people got up early to come over.

Shu Yu bypassed the front hall of the temple and went directly to the backyard.

Most people were busy in the front, with only two or three Daoist nuns busy in the backyard.

Upon seeing Shu Yu, they were stunned for a moment, “Lady Lu?”

“Has my master returned?”
