The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1284: Chapter 1284: Madam Liang’s Persuasion

Shu Yu furrowed her brows, “Why does Aunt not agree?”

Madam Liang, standing next to her, exclaimed, “Yu family’s patriarch’s distant nephew and Sister-in-law is still not satisfied? That’s Lord Yu, after all.”

The old lady waved her hand, “Lower your voice, you’re hurting my ears.”

She then turned to Shu Yu and said, “She dislikes Yu Fenglin being an orphan without parents and also disdains that he only owns a blacksmith shop. She even says he’s unattractive, truly something by her standards.”

Madam Liang pursed her lips, “Sister-in-law’s standards have become so high now? Not impressed with someone who owns a blacksmith shop and is Lord Yu’s nephew. Has she looked at herself? Her family only has a few acres, does she really think she can match a wealthy Young Master?”

It turned out to be spot on. The old lady later learned that Madam Li had quite a few profiles of wealthy young men, and she was being extremely picky with them. If it weren’t for that, Lanhua’s marriage would have been settled by now.

The old lady thought Yu Fenglin was decent, while Madam Li thought the old lady’s opinion was poor, ignoring families with wealth and influence, instead choosing the worst option—was she foolish?

The old lady was so furious she couldn’t speak, thinking Madam Li had lost her mind. Doesn’t she look at her own situation? Why would those families be interested in hers? Isn’t it all because of Yu?

Madam Liang chuckled after hearing this, “Mother, let me handle this. I’ll go talk to Sister-in-law.”

“Can you do it?” the old lady doubted.

Madam Liang patted her chest, “Rest assured, I’ll do it. I’ll go find Sister-in-law first thing tomorrow morning.”

The old lady was half-believing, half-doubting, but she didn’t want to face Madam Li anymore. However, Lanhua was her granddaughter, and she couldn’t let her be harmed by Madam Li’s meddling.

If Madam Liang wanted to try, then let her try.

No one expected Madam Liang actually talked Madam Li into it. The next day, she specially went to see Yu Fenglin at the blacksmith shop. Once she had a clear understanding, she went to find Madam Li.

Madam Li roughly knew that in the past few days, Lanhua was using the excuse of repaying kindness to deliver meals to Yu Fenglin, so she kept a close eye on her.

When Lanhua went to work at Yiren Pavilion, Madam Li followed her there.

Madam Liang went to Yiren Pavilion to find Madam Li. She told her, “It’s good that he’s without parents. Whatever family assets he has, they’ll all be his.”

Lanhua wouldn’t need to serve in-laws after marrying and would have a comfortable life. The only ones Yu Fenglin would need to be filial to in the future would be his mother-in-law and father-in-law, essentially acting as a live-in son-in-law.

Those young masters from wealthy families might have money, but their families are extensive, with vast enterprises. Usually, it’s the eldest son who inherits the family business. But all the matches for Lanhua were second sons or youngest sons, either neglected or spoiled. If Lanhua marries into such a family, not only would she have to serve a large household, but she also wouldn’t have any authority at home. She might even suffer grievances.

Yu Fenglin, on the other hand, has a shop in the family. Hiring an old woman to help with house chores and serve Lanhua is more than feasible.

Moreover, since Lord Yu introduced this match, and considering how vast Lord Yu’s assets are — shops and houses in both county and prefecture — he would certainly favor Yu Fenglin more. Even if he leaks a little from between his fingers, it would be enough for the young couple to live quite comfortably.

Although Madam Li didn’t like Madam Liang, she found that some words truly resonated with her.

She was moved by two points: first, her daughter marrying into a place where she can buy servants, be the decision-maker, and doesn’t need to serve in-laws; second, that her son-in-law would have to be filial to them in the future.

With these two points, it’d be impossible for anyone else to achieve.

After pondering back and forth, Madam Li, still pained by Lanhua’s situation, agreed.
