The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1273: Chapter 1273: The Dongqing Temple Master Is My Master

Shu Yu rode her horse to the west of the city, then slowed down.

She had arranged with Meng Yunzheng that after returning from Dongqing Temple, she would head straight to the Miao Residence.

No matter what measures Meng Yunzheng would take to obstruct the contact between the black market intermediaries and Old Master Miao, someone would be waiting for her a street away from the Miao Residence to inform her of the whereabouts.

Therefore, when Shu Yu was not far from the Miao Residence, she got off the horse and walked slowly.

Sure enough, after a short while, a beggar hesitantly ran up and softly asked, ”Are you Lady Lu?”

Shu Yu stopped and nodded, ”I am Lu Shuyu.”

The beggar let out a sigh of relief and said, ”Young Master Meng asked me to wait here for you, to inform you that he is waiting for you in box number three on the second floor of Rongguang Restaurant ahead.”

Shu Yu gave him several copper coins, ”Thank you.”

She led the horse into the restaurant, handed Dabai to the staff, and went straight to the second floor.

When she reached box number three, Shu Yu took a deep breath and raised her hand to knock on the door.

Inside, Meng Yunzheng and Old Master Miao paused for a moment. Old Master Miao signaled to his attendant to open the door.

Seeing the person at the door, the attendant was stunned for a moment, ”Miss, you’ve knocked on the wrong door.”

Before Shu Yu could speak, Meng Yunzheng inside stood up and came over, ”She is here to find me.”

With that, he brought Shu Yu inside.

Old Master Miao squinted at the person in front of him. Meng Yunzheng first poured a cup of water for Shu Yu, waited for her to drink, and then said, ”Old Master Miao, let me introduce, this is my fiancée, Lu Shuyu.”

Old Master Miao was taken aback; to him, the name Lu Shuyu was more familiar than Meng Yunzheng.

This lady was originally the Third Sister of the magistrate’s family. After the Shu family declined, she followed in exile. As a result, while the fate of the Shu family is still unknown, she suddenly rose up and became Monarch Lu Xiang, returning gloriously to her village.

Previously, the madam of Piaoxiang Courtyard, Liu Ru, had expressed quite a few sentiments when mentioning Monarch Lu Xiang.

Old Master Miao stood up, ”Monarch Lu Xiang?”

Shu Yu smiled, ”Old Master Miao, I’ve long admired your reputation.”

Old Master Miao looked at her, then at Meng Yunzheng, and suddenly laughed, ”Hahaha, who would have thought, the once sensational Young Master Meng from the capital and the famous Monarch Lu Xiang from our Dongan Province are actually engaged. You both are truly a talented and beautiful couple.”

Old Master Miao had heard about Shu Yu’s engagement but hadn’t expected the counterpart to be him.

Shu Yu sat next to Meng Yunzheng, ”I shall consider that as Old Master Miao complimenting me. What were you two talking about just now?”

”Just casual conversation.”

Meng Yunzheng gently squeezed her hand. Seeing her appear at the moment told him that Old Master Miao was already on board. The expression on Shu Yu’s face indicated her trip to Dongqing Temple was very successful.

Old Master Miao squinted his eyes, ”Indeed, it was just casual conversation. Young Master Meng has been chatting aimlessly with me for so long, apparently just waiting for Monarch Lu Xiang to arrive. So, are you both here for something? I’m just curious as to why using Dongqing Temple as an excuse to invite me out, what is the real intention?”

He evidently knew Meng Yunzheng was stalling for time, but could see that there was no malice on the other side. Besides, his curiosity made him interested, so he didn’t impatiently leave.

Now, it seemed it was time to discuss business.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance, ”Apologies for taking so much of Old Master Miao’s time. Now let me reintroduce myself, I am Lu Shuyu; the Temple master of Dongqing Temple is my mentor.”
