The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1258: Chapter 1258: Preparing to Recruit Workers

The old lady felt that there might be something going on between Lanhua and Young Master Yu, and she was quite happy to see it happen. In her opinion, Yu Fenglin is a decent young man.

Since Lanhua wasn’t around, the old lady didn’t stay long and planned to come back the next day to ask Lanhua’s opinion.

If she thought it was feasible, then the old lady would inform Lord Yu so that both parties could meet officially.

The old lady returned, and Shu Yu noticed that she seemed to be in a good mood. It seemed that things were progressing smoothly on Lanhua’s end.

She didn’t ask much. Now that her eldest sister was already married, and seeing that the sunflowers would mature in about twenty days, she needed to quickly recruit enough people.

The workshop was already built, and most of the dormitories were finished. These days her father was busy making the oil pressing tools.

Therefore, early the next morning, Shu Yu set off for the manor.

The workshop was built two miles southwest of the manor. Shu Yu parked the carriage at the manor and then walked over with Ying Xi.

The workshop was built quite large, and there was a grand scale to the construction when it started. Naturally, the villagers from several nearby villages were very curious and would often come over to take a look.

Especially since the farm work wasn’t busy recently, many people had free time, so not far from the workshop, there would often be groups of elders gathered chatting and discussing.

They also heard from the land buyer that it was bought recently by the famous Monarch Lu Xiang.

They just didn’t know what the workshop was built to do.

When they asked the workers, they didn’t know either.

The more mysterious it was, the more curious they became.

When Shu Yu arrived that day, there were even more people gathered not far away than on previous days.

She was a bit puzzled and went inside the workshop to ask Lu Erbai, ”Dad, what’s going on outside?”

Lu Erbai lifted his head, wiped his sweat, looked in the direction he was pointing, and laughed, ”Oh, nothing much. It’s just that they see our workshop is about to be completed, and they’re wondering if we’re going to recruit workers, so they come over occasionally to check it out and inquire.”

Shu Yu chuckled; these people sure knew how to pick their moments.

However, she didn’t expect that not only those people but even the workers building the workshop were getting restless.

A moment after Shu Yu arrived, someone from Shangshi Village who had a good relationship with Lu Erbai was pushed by the crowd to come in front of her and asked, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, when is our workshop hiring? How about my spouse? And my brother, both are very diligent.”

Shu Yu was momentarily stunned, then smiled, ”We are indeed planning to hire in the next couple of days.” She looked outside at the crowd who were working while listening intently and simply raised her voice, ”If anyone in your family is interested, they can come and try.”

The crowd was delighted, but before they could start cheering, Shu Yu quickly added, ”But let me say this upfront, I’m planning to hire about thirty to forty people this time, so spots are limited. Therefore, we certainly need diligent and hard-working individuals, and it’s even better if they can read and write. Moreover, we will sign a contract, and there will be penalties for violating contract terms. I know all of my uncles and aunts have a good relationship with my dad, and you probably know my temperament somewhat. I won’t give preferential treatment just because someone is a fellow villager or a relative. I will uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and openness in recruitment.”

Everyone looked at each other, and some felt that this method was the best, especially those workers who were not from Shangshi Village nor related to the Lu family. They were greatly relieved as now they had a fair chance to compete.
