The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287: Distributing Work Clothes

Shu Yu said, “When I was hiring earlier, I mentioned that I need you all to come to work neat and tidy every day. I just checked, and you’ve all trimmed your nails, your clothes are clean, and you look refreshed. I’m very pleased.”

Upon hearing this, everyone couldn’t help but feel happy.

After all, the wages given by the boss are not low, and they were also afraid of doing something wrong. Haven’t they been getting up early to wash their hair and bathe? They spent quite some time fussing around before daring to step out.

“I’ve told everyone that our workshop is about food. What goes into people’s mouths needs to be clean. If it’s dirty, it wouldn’t only be unsellable to customers; we ourselves wouldn’t be able to stand it. I will provide each of you with a set of clothes and an apron. You’re required to wrap your hair with a cloth when working. I hope there won’t be things like hair found in the food.”

The clothes were custom-made by Yiren Pavilion, and Mrs. Xiang and the others rushed for several days to complete them.

But since all the clothes are of one style, they’re not too complex, and they were made quickly.

Shu Yu plans to give each person two sets so they can change and wash them in time. Today, she can only issue one set first; the other set is still being rushed and will be delivered once finished.

As Shu Yu finished, Daniu stepped forward, and along with Ying Xi, they lifted out two baskets.

Seeing this, everyone looked at each other, wondering, were there actually clothes to be distributed?

The group was somewhat excited, especially those from families in poor conditions, who came to work today wearing their only unpatched piece of clothing. To them, this was like a pie falling from the sky.

Moreover, the clothes Shu Yu distributed were padded with cotton.

Even though the cotton clothing wasn’t thick, compared to the clothes they used to fill with willow wool, they were like treasures—something they were reluctant to wear.

When they finally received the clothes, they hesitated to touch them.

Receiving clothes even before starting work, how could the future benefits be bad? Just for these clothes, they must work hard and absolutely not betray the boss’s trust.

Thus, everyone fully agreed with Shu Yu’s words, nodding vigorously.

After distributing the clothes, Shu Yu also gave each person a work badge. Though called a work badge, it was just a small wooden tag with their name pinned on their attire.

Once everything was distributed, Shu Yu said, “Today is the first day of work, so we’ll work half a day and rest in the afternoon. After lunch at noon, you can come and choose your rooms. For now, four people share a room, but if someone performs well, they might move to a two-person room or a single room.”

“Yes,” they responded excitedly, then rushed inside to change into their work uniforms, energetically following Shu Yu to the work room on the right.

More than forty people were divided into two groups; one group was responsible for processing melon seeds, and the other for oil extraction.

Shu Yu first took a portion of the people to the courtyard for processing melon seeds. Previously, she had tried original flavor melon seeds, but the taste was too monotonous. Now, she wanted to try five-spice melon seeds.

The melon seeds had already been soaked with spice packets in the morning, and now the timing was just right. Shu Yu instructed someone to pour them into the pot and continue boiling with spice packets and salt for two quarters of an hour.

With the spice packet in the pot, it wasn’t long before a rich aroma wafted out.

Everyone present couldn’t help but sniff, saying, “Smells so good.”

Shu Yu had a villager named Luo Chun watch over it. He had previously worked at a peanut-roasting workshop for half a year before it closed down, and he returned to the village.

So he was somewhat considered a ‘technician.’
