The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1289: Chapter 1289: Sending Gifts

The old lady exclaimed that she had lost weight, “How is it that after just two days, your chin has become so pointed? You just need to supervise the work in the workshop. Let them do the laborious tasks. Look at you, you’ve lost so much weight.”

Shu Yu was in a good mood, “Grandmother, haven’t I come back now? The workshop just started operating, so I had to worry about it a bit. Now that it’s on track, I’m planning to come home and rest for a few days. You can fatten me up again.”

“Okay, then Grandmother will cook for you herself tonight. I’ll go buy the food you like.”

With that, the old lady called Hua Xian to accompany her, and they hurried off to the market to buy groceries.

However, when she returned, Shu Yu was gone again.

She asked the servants at home, and they just said she’d packed up some melon seeds and sunflower oil and left, but she’d be back before dinner.

The old lady was confused. She thought Shu Yu had taken those melon seeds for the shop opening. Could it be for something else?

Shu Yu’s melon seeds were not for sale, but for gifting.

She went directly to the courier station, planning to send them through official channels to the capital for Qi Chan, Yao Tianqin, and Lord Jing.

With the New Year fast approaching, after the celebrations, everyone would visit friends and family. Seeing such an unusual and delicious item, they would definitely inquire about it, right?

With the support of several lords, she was not worried about her sales.

Shu Yu had recently been looking for suitable land nearby that might be for sale to increase her production.

“Miss, it seems to be Young Master Meng up ahead.”

Ying Xi, sitting at the front of the carriage, suddenly spoke up. Shu Yu snapped out of her thoughts, lifted the curtain, and indeed saw Meng Yunzheng walking out of an escort agency.

This was the escort agency where Meng Pei worked. He had really found a suitable job.

Meng Pei had been working at the escort agency for about a month, but he hadn’t traveled far yet, only escorting in nearby areas and quickly returning.

“Yu?” Meng Yunzheng also saw her and walked quickly over, “Where are you going?”

Shu Yu got off the carriage and shared her thoughts with him.

Finally, she lowered her voice and asked, “Do you think I should also prepare some for the new emperor?”

If it had been the late emperor, Shu Yu would have had no intentions.

But the new emperor was quite close to Meng Yunzheng. Although she hadn’t met him, during her exile, the then-Fifth Prince had helped a lot. They had communicated indirectly.

Now that she had something new and interesting, it seemed improper not to offer it as tribute.

Meng Yunzheng replied with a smile, “You should indeed prepare some for him. Xiang Weinan already mentioned your sunflower cultivation to the new emperor. Although the emperor didn’t say much, he did mention it briefly in his reply. It might have been an unconscious remark, but we can’t ignore it.”

In fact, to put it bluntly, sending it to the new emperor would be beneficial for Shu Yu.

Even a word of praise from the new emperor would ensure that the sunflower wouldn’t be a problem in the future.

“But you can’t send it directly. Xiang Weinan is the county magistrate of Jiangyuan County, so it would be best for him to take the lead. I’ll have him write a letter. When the melon seeds and oil reach the capital, deliver them to the Xiang Mansion, and they can present them to the emperor.”

“Okay.” Shu Yu nodded, “Then do I still need to send them through the courier station? Or should Xiang Weinan arrange for someone to send them to the capital?”

This would be better, and it would save her the trouble.

However, Meng Yunzheng shook his head, “No need, let my father take them.”

Shu Yu was startled, “Uncle Meng? He’s going to the capital? But the New Year is almost here.”

Meng Yunzheng said helplessly, “There’s an urgent escort from the agency that needs to be delivered to the capital before the New Year.”
