The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1279: Chapter 1279: Stalling for Time with Xiang Weinan

After signing, they still had to go to the office to handle the property transfer. Although this area was a bit far from the county town, it still fell within Jiangyuan County’s jurisdiction.

The group entered the town and arrived at the entrance to the county office.

The issue of property transfer in this kind of house was managed by a specialized clerk, and it wouldn’t be noticeable to Xiang Weinan.

However, Xiang Weinan was very attentive to the situation on the black market and had specifically instructed the clerk to report immediately if something like this occurred.

Therefore, upon seeing Old Master Miao and Steward Guo coming to handle the property transfer, the clerk immediately found an excuse to have them wait in the main hall while he went to look for household registration files.

After leaving, the clerk went directly to find Xiang Weinan.

As soon as Xiang Weinan heard about this, his brows furrowed tightly.

Earlier, he had commented that the place was not only related to Shu Yu Manor’s issues but also to the ethos of Jiangyuan County.

A good hillside estate had become a haven of pleasure, and there was no way Xiang Weinan, the county magistrate, could be pleased.

But since the other party conducted the sale freely, he had no reason to obstruct it.

”Lord, what should we do now?”

Xiang Weinan paced back and forth in the study, making the clerk’s eyes dizzy.

After a while, he said to the clerk, ”Find an excuse to delay them; I’ll think of a plan and have someone give you a definite answer shortly.”

”Yes.” The clerk left.

Xiang Weinan also left the study, calling for Hu Li, ”Go find Village Chief Lu Xiang and see if there’s any progress on her side regarding this matter.”

Hadn’t that young girl always been very anxious about issues concerning the black market? Why had she suddenly gone silent these past few days? Surely, just because Meng Yunzheng had returned, the two weren’t lost in each other’s company, neglecting the proper business?

After agreeing, Hu Li hurriedly left the government office, heading to Fenghuai Street to find Shu Yu.

Who would have thought that just after turning a corner, he would find the person he was looking for huddled in a corner.

Hu Li jumped in fright, ”Village Chief Lu Xiang? Why are you here? Just in time, the Lord asked me to find you to discuss something.”

Shu Yu lowered her voice, ”Is it about the estate on the black market?”

She had followed Meng Yunzheng’s party back to the county town after they descended the mountain. Meng Yunzheng knew she was waiting for news, so once everything went smoothly, he would leave a mark after descending to let her know.

After seeing the mark, Shu Yu immediately returned.

She had only just arrived at the county office entrance, and she was still catching her breath.

Hu Li nodded, ”Village Chief Lu Xiang, you know?”

”Yes, instruct Lord Xiang to quickly handle the transfer of ownership to avoid any complications. Tell Lord Xiang, Meng Yunzheng is inside, disguised as Old Master Miao’s attendant.”

Hu Li’s eyes lit up, ”So, Village Chief Lu Xiang and Young Master Meng had a plan all along.”

Shu Yu waved her hand, ”The situation is urgent and happened too fast; there hasn’t been time to communicate with the Lord.”

”As long as the issue is resolved, it’s fine. I’ll go back and inform the Lord now.”

”Alright.”

Hu Li turned and returned to the county office, his demeanor now completely different from before.

Xiang Weinan was still deep in thought, and upon seeing him return so quickly, he was startled, ”Why are you back so soon?”

Hu Li quickly reported what he had seen and heard with Shu Yu outside.

Xiang Weinan, ”...”

So what exactly were they up to?

He desperately wanted to rush forward to assess the situation and have a word with Meng Yunzheng to find out more.

But obviously, it wasn’t the right time yet. Restraining his impulses, he turned to Hu Li and said, ”Go pass a message to the clerk to expedite the handling of the property transfer matters.”

”Alright.”

Hu Li quickly went out again.
