The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1271: Chapter 1271: Drawing Out Old Master Miao

Meng Yunzheng stood not far away, watching Old Master Miao enter another street’s Rongguang Restaurant.

This restaurant was the address written on the invitation by Meng Yunzheng. Old Master Miao went up to the second floor, sitting there with a stern face waiting.

Meng Yunzheng did not follow him. He continued to watch in the direction of the Miao Residence gate.

Fortunately, Old Master Miao left in time. Shortly after, the black market people came carrying several boxes and stood at the Miao Residence entrance.

Meng Yunzheng silently approached a few steps, stood in the shadows, listening to the dialogue between the black market intermediary and the gatekeeper.

The gatekeeper obviously did not expect that just after the Lord left, another visitor would arrive.

Seeing the other person being courteous, he could only smile and say, “The Lord has gone out. This Sir has indeed arrived at an unfortunate time.”

“Gone out?” The person looked at the sky. It was clearly still early. Why had he gone out?

He asked, “When did Old Master Miao leave, and where did he go?”

The gatekeeper smiled, “Sir, what a question you ask. I’m just a small gatekeeping servant. How would I know the Lord’s whereabouts? But the Lord has just left not long ago, and he likely won’t be back anytime soon.”

The person’s face slightly changed. This was really unfortunate.

He still wanted to ask more. The gatekeeper seemed unwilling to say much.

After a moment’s hesitation, the person promptly slipped a small piece of silver to the gatekeeper. “I really have urgent business with Old Master Miao. Could you please do me a favor?”

The gatekeeper’s eyes brightened slightly. He was silent for a moment, then said, “I truly don’t know where the Lord went. But I heard him mention Dongqing Temple when he was leaving…”

He had no idea where the Lord went. A mere servant could not possibly be informed of his whereabouts. However, since the other person gave silver, he had to provide some useful information. Dongqing Temple was the most likely place.

Going to Dongqing Temple? The person lowered his eyes. If he was going to Dongqing Temple, then going out so early would be normal.

He expressed his thanks and quickly turned to leave, carrying his items.

Meng Yunzheng calculated the time. If this person also went to Dongqing Temple at this time, he might very well encounter Yu directly.

That wouldn’t do.

Just as he was thinking about how to stop it, the person returned.

Meng Yunzheng was surprised but then saw the person sitting in a food shop across from the Miao Residence.

It seems… he doesn’t plan to go to Dongqing Temple and intends to wait here patiently.

Meng Yunzheng breathed a sigh of relief and then headed toward Rongguang Restaurant.

Although he went up to the second floor, he did not plan to meet Old Master Miao. Meng Yunzheng still wasn’t clear what the connection between Dongqing Temple and Old Master Miao was. Meeting rashly could make matters worse if he said the wrong thing.

Hopefully, Old Master Miao could be a bit patient and wait for Yu to return from Dongqing Temple.

However, even if Shu Yu were fast, it would still take time to go to Dongqing Temple outside the city and return.

Old Master Miao was patient enough, but after waiting for two quarter-hour periods, he started becoming impatient.

The attendant behind him cautiously glanced at his expression, finally speaking up, “Lord, could it be that the other party is toying with us?”

Old Master Miao placed the teacup on the table, “Let’s not wait any longer, let’s go.”

“Yes.”

The two of them got up and left the private room. But just as they opened the door, a person was walking up front, smiling warmly and courteously, making them feel like a spring breeze, “Old Master Miao, sorry to keep you waiting.”

Old Master Miao was taken aback, looking him up and down, “Are you the one who sent me the invitation?”
