The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1280: Chapter 1280: It’s Settled

The clerk received the news and secretly breathed a sigh of relief, as Steward Guo and Old Master Miao had already asked quite a few times.

Although he withstood the pressure, both of them are seasoned individuals, and their imposing aura is truly significant.

The clerk sat back behind the desk and began the routine inquiries slowly and methodically.

Old Master Miao appeared visibly impatient, whereas Steward Guo seemed mentally prepared.

He was well aware of the relationship between Xiang Weinan and Meng Yunzheng, after all, when Meng Yunzheng proposed marriage, it was this county magistrate who personally acted as the matchmaker.

Therefore, Steward Guo speculated that Xiang Weinan was also aware of Meng Yunzheng’s desire to purchase from the black market, and encountering difficulties during the transfer process was normal.

However, although it took some time, the matter was resolved in the end.

After Old Master Miao and Steward Guo left the county office, they both let out a long sigh of relief.

Old Master Miao turned his head to look at Steward Guo, laughed heartily, and said, “The matter is settled, and it’s too late to return to the prefecture now. I’ll stay in this county town tonight. Steward Guo, join me for a drink at the inn to celebrate?”

Steward Guo just smiled, “No, I still have to go back and pack up, and leave the manor early tomorrow. It’s just as well to vacate the manor so that Old Master Miao can quickly find someone to repair it.”

“That’s also fine.”

“Old Master Miao, let’s part ways here.” Steward Guo cupped his hands in farewell and then boarded the carriage with his people.

Old Master Miao stood there watching as the carriage went further away, only then did he clasp his hands behind his back and said in a low voice, “Let’s find a place to talk?”

From behind, Meng Yunzheng spoke, “There’s an inn not far ahead, and Yu should be waiting for us there.”

“Let’s go.”

A few people headed to the inn, and upon entering, they saw a fleeting glimpse of Shu Yu at the top of the stairs.

She was in a private room on the second floor and had already ordered food.

Old Master Miao only brought Meng Yunzheng and an attendant inside, while the remaining two stood guard at the door.

Once seated, Old Master Miao placed the house and land deeds on the table, “The matter is settled, but Steward Guo requested to sell it to you in a year. What are your thoughts now?”

Shu Yu was puzzled, “In a year?”

Meng Yunzheng said, “Steward Guo probably feared that we would buy the manor from Old Master Miao, so he temporarily added such a condition.”

Old Master Miao glanced at the two of them and suggested, “Why not sell it to you in a year? In the meantime, I could use it for some purpose?”

“No!!” Meng Yunzheng decisively rejected, clearly understanding what ‘purpose’ Old Master Miao intended.

It seemed that Steward Guo thought the same way, hence the added requirement.

Old Master Miao frowned, somewhat displeased.

Shu Yu smiled, “Old Master Miao, we bought that manor to set up a book academy.”

Old Master Miao was taken aback, then suddenly realized, “No wonder.”

He spread his hands, “Then what do you suggest we do now?”

“Setting up a book academy isn’t urgent. Opening it a year later is still feasible. However, just letting the manor sit there isn’t ideal.”

At the very least, in the short term, there will definitely be people watching the black market.

Especially since Old Master Miao mentioned before leaving that he needs to quickly find someone to repair and make use of the manor.

“In that case, during this year, let’s use the time for repairs. I’ll draw out the layout of the manor, and by then, just renovate it according to the book academy’s specifications.”

This matter falls beyond Old Master Miao’s concern. He is merely an intermediary and needs to ensure that no trouble arises from the black market during this year.

“But it shouldn’t take a whole year to repair, right?”
