The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1259: Chapter 1259: The Attendant Meng Yunzheng Found

Shu Yu’s words probably reached outside, and the villagers who were originally watching the excitement nearby suddenly gathered their courage and came over to ask her.

Shu Yu repeated what she had said before, and those people cheered and ran back to tell their close ones.

Originally, only a few people were recruited, but now the number of competitors had increased, and the workers shaping the workshop were a bit anxious, fearing that the good jobs might be taken by others.

Shu Yu was not in a hurry. Although there were many villagers in Shangshi Village, some of them were already working with her father. The remaining ones, who had fields and families, and wanted to stay here for a long time to work in the workshop, were not many.

These people had to be diligent and meticulous, and those who met Shu Yu’s criteria were even fewer, definitely not more than thirty or forty people.

Shu Yu set a time for everyone, just three days later, for those interested to come to the Manor for an ‘interview.’

Then she let everyone get busy and herself took a walk in and around the workshop. The progress was fine, and in about ten more days, it would almost be ready for use.

After finishing her inspection of the workshop, Shu Yu got up and headed towards the entrance, planning to go to the fields to see the sunflowers.

Who knew that halfway there, she saw a familiar carriage approaching.

The carriage stopped in front of her, and Shu Yu looked at the person on the carriage shaft… a stranger.

The next moment, the curtain of the carriage was lifted, and Meng Yunzheng jumped out of the carriage.

Shu Yu’s smile subconsciously widened, and she quickly walked up, “You’re back?”

Meng Yunzheng had previously told her that he was going to the prefecture to buy a few servants, and he left yesterday.

“I just returned from the prefecture, and when I passed by the Manor, I saw your carriage parked outside. I thought you might be here, so I came to find you. How is it, are you going back?”

“No, I plan to go see the sunflowers.”

“Let’s go, I’ll accompany you.”

The two walked ahead.

Shu Yu thought of the strange young man sitting on the carriage shaft just now and glanced back. This person was leading the carriage and following behind. Seeing Shu Yu’s gaze, he hurriedly and respectfully spoke, “Hello, Lady Lu.”

Shu Yu was taken aback and nodded slightly.

She turned her head and smiled as she asked Meng Yunzheng, “Is this the attendant you found in the prefecture?”

“Yes, his name is Xia Yan. He studied for six years, writes quite well, and knows a bit of martial arts.”

Shu Yu was a bit surprised, “You really found a treasure.”

“Speaking of which, he has some connections to the Shu family.”

“How so?”

“Xia Yan’s family was originally quite well-off, with fields and shops, so his parents sent him to study, hoping he could earn some fame. Unfortunately, before he could take the provincial examination, something happened at home. He originally had a childhood sweetheart fiancée, Ms. He, and they were engaged when they were twelve.”

Who knew that a year before the wedding, his fiancée was accidentally noticed by Shu Feng, who wanted to take her as a concubine.

Shu Feng, being several years older than Shu Yu, was already married. However, before the Shu family fell, his wife’s family got the news and made her divorce Shu Feng, which is why she was not part of the exile team.

As for Shu Feng’s concubine, she was just a maidservant earlier, and she was sold after being imprisoned.

Xia Yan’s fiancée was the first concubine Shu Feng had his eyes on.

The Xia family naturally refused, but his fiancée’s parents were eager to climb the ranks of the magistrate’s family.

The He family, like the Xia family before, had a modest background. The Xia family was lucky and had unexpected fortune, and their days kept getting better.
