The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: Meng Pei Is Here

The two middle-aged men were taken aback when they saw her, and both took two steps back to check the door number.

“We didn’t get it wrong…”

The taller man slightly composed himself and asked amiably, “Miss, does Meng Yunzheng live here?”

Shu Yu looked them over, puzzled as to who would come knocking at this time from the capital. Especially since these two didn’t look like imperial court officials and were carrying luggage…

Wait, carrying luggage?

Shu Yu’s eyes widened suddenly, becoming a bit nervous.

What to do, Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi are both out, and their fathers and master have just, just arrived.

Just then, Ying Xi walked over and called out to her, “Miss?”

Shu Yu came back to her senses abruptly, composed herself, and asked the two at the door with a smile, “This is Meng Yunzheng’s home. May I ask how you are called?”

“My surname is Meng, and this is Doctor Zhao. And you are…?” the taller man replied.

Shu Yu thought, so it really is them!

She took a few steps back, “Oh, it’s Uncle Meng and Uncle Zhao. Please come in. Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi have gone out and haven’t returned yet.”

She invited the two in and quickly asked Ying Xi to serve tea.

After the two sat down, she introduced herself, “My surname is Lu, second in the family. Uncle can just call me Shu Yu.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Meng Pei stood up excitedly, “You, you’re Shu Yu? Yun’s wife?”

Shu Yu, “…” Well, not yet.

Meng Pei laughed heartily, sizing Shu Yu up, “Good girl, good girl, so spirited and looks great, a perfect match with Yun.”

Shu Yu coughed lightly, suddenly meeting her future father-in-law, she wasn’t quite prepared for this.

But Meng Pei was very pleased. His nature was straightforward, and the more he looked at Shu Yu, the more satisfied he became. Then he was a bit puzzled, “I heard about what happened in the capital; Yun shouldn’t have brought you here. How come you’re here?”

He had always thought Shu Yu was in Dongan Province, so when she opened the door, Meng Pei didn’t think of her.

Of course, he didn’t believe Meng Yunzheng would sneak another girl here.

So his first reaction was whether he had found the wrong place.

Shu Yu explained how she was worried about Meng Yunzheng and followed him right after.

Meng Pei was even happier, “Not bad, not bad, you’re a brave and affectionate girl, a true heroine among women, Yun is truly blessed to have met you.”

Shu Yu, “…” Facing such a Meng Pei, she found herself at a loss for words.

Doctor Zhao, on the other hand, looked at him disdainfully, “A crude person is still crude, if you don’t know how to speak, don’t, or you’ll scare the young lady.”

Afterwards, he quickly put on a smile, one that was twisted but self-assumed as kind, and asked, “Shu Yu, is it? Are your eldest sister and third sister well?”

Shu Yu couldn’t hold back and swallowed hard, forcing a smile, “They’re, they’re all good.”

“I received a letter from that brat Zhao Xi, saying he’s engaged to your older sister. He hasn’t made a fool of himself, has he?”

Shu Yu shook her head immediately, “No.”

“That’s good. Now that your elder sister is my disciple’s wife, and your third sister is about to become my disciple, we…”

Meng Pei couldn’t hold it any longer, “Are you done yet? This is my daughter-in-law; I haven’t even said a few words, and you’re already taking over? Don’t you have any self-awareness?”
