The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118: Qi Chan Arrives

Qi Chan got off the carriage, lifted his eyes to look at the small courtyard before him, and nodded with slight satisfaction.

This Meng Yunzheng, he certainly didn’t mistake him, able to enjoy wealth, yet enduring poverty. Such a person should not live a mediocre life, unnoticed.

The Dasu dynasty needs talented people.

Especially since a group of officials was dismissed due to the Second Prince and Gong Qiu incident, the imperial court is in need of people.

Lord Tutor is very worried.

Qi Chan sighed, slightly turned his face, and the attendant beside him stepped forward to knock on the door.

Quite a while later, a hurried footstep sound came from inside, “Coming, coming, what’s the rush? I was just grinding medicine, you came back quite early, I thought…”

Zhao Xi opened the courtyard gate, lifted his head, his smile slightly froze. How come it’s not Yun and the others?

The attendant at the door nodded at him and stepped aside to reveal Qi Chan behind him.

Zhao Xi’s eyes widened, “Lord Qi?”

Qi Chan smiled and asked, “Is Young Master Meng Yunzheng living here?”

Zhao Xi pondered whether to say yes or no?

“May I come in?” Qi Chan’s attitude was very amiable, but the more amiable he was, the more nervous Zhao Xi felt.

He forced a laugh, could he dare say no?

Zhao Xi stepped aside, “Lord Qi, please come in.”

Qi Chan nodded, walked in with his hands behind his back, and Zhao Xi hurriedly followed, saying, “Is there something Lord Qi needs from Yun? It’s unfortunate, he has gone out of town, and it’s unclear when he’ll be back. As it’s getting late, the city gates are about to close, and if he doesn’t make it back in time, he might have to stay outside the city.”

Qi Chan glanced around the courtyard, indeed a very small courtyard with only a few rooms, but tidied up neatly, giving a sense of warmth.

Zhao Xi led him into the living room, poured a glass of water, and only then did Qi Chan speak, “No rush, I’ll just wait here. If the city gates close and he hasn’t returned, then I will come again another day.”

Zhao Xi, “…” What else can he say when you’ve said it all? He can’t exactly drive him away, can he?

He sighed quietly, and could only sit by and chat with him.

Just awkward conversation.

Lord Tutor wanted to ask about Meng Yunzheng’s situation, to know what he has been doing all these years, but Zhao Xi, though seemingly simple-minded, skillfully dodged each topic when it came to Yunzheng.

Qi Chan was both amused and irritated.

What was this? It was as if he was a villain, coming specifically to give Meng Yunzheng trouble.

But people of the same kind gather together; Yunzheng’s friends are all this clever, let alone Yunzheng himself.

Forget it, if he doesn’t return, then he won’t ask.

Qi Chan said to Zhao Xi, “Doctor Zhao, go ahead with your own work, I’ll just sit here and have some tea, waiting for him.”

Zhao Xi quickly shook his head, “I’m not busy, I’m quite free.”

“But didn’t I just hear you were grinding medicine? Go ahead, it won’t bother me.”

As he had said this, and since Zhao Xi truly didn’t want to keep dealing with his questions, which was really tiring,

so he promptly got up to continue his work.

Only then did Qi Chan turn to scrutinize his surroundings; there weren’t many things in this house, as they hadn’t moved in long.

Moreover, from what Meng Yunzheng said, he would be leaving the capital soon, so this place was just a temporary stop.

Qi Chan just thought this when he suddenly noticed a decorative embroidered ancient fan placed in the corner. Does a woman live here too?
