The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1112: Chapter 1112: Gong Qiu’s Backup Plan

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng left the central judicial office and slowly made their way toward the south of the city.

After walking for quite a distance, Meng Yunzheng asked in a low voice, “The last insurance policy?”

Shu Yu nodded heavily, her expression slightly serious, “As you said, Gong Qiu is an old fox. He knows it was you who complained before the Emperor and believes you’re not his son. He might not be able to do other things, but at the last moment, he would definitely drag you down with him.”

She turned her head to look at him, “He already has few offspring. Back then, he wasn’t even sure if your father was still alive or if you knew his secret, yet he still risked bringing you back to raise you. Clearly, he still cares about that bloodline connection. I just figured, no matter how much he hates you or how unwilling he is, he would still spare your life.”

It turned out that Gong Qiu did plan to reveal in front of the Emperor that Meng Yunzheng had known about his relationship with Noble Princess Consort Liu all along.

Meng Yunzheng was silent for a moment, “It doesn’t really matter. That person’s… health is already failing.”

With Gong Qiu dealt with, most of the power would likely fall into the hands of the Fifth Prince, and the Emperor probably wouldn’t have the energy to concern himself with him any longer.

Shu Yu smiled, “Who knows how long he can hold on? Just in case, you know.”

Others don’t know, but Shu Yu knows the plot.

The Emperor’s health is indeed failing, yet his vitality is remarkably tenacious, and he somehow managed to hold on.

The book records that the Emperor passed away in winter amidst falling snow.

It’s still late summer now, with at least several months to go. If the Emperor truly wanted someone dead, wouldn’t a few months be enough?

Shu Yu lifted her head, “I know you don’t want Gong Qiu to have an easy time and want him to die without peace. We’re not in a hurry. We’ll wait until he’s on the execution platform and then tell him we were deceiving him, that you’re the Meng family’s son. After all, he wouldn’t have the energy or time to verify it. We’ll speak with confidence and produce evidence, ensuring he dies of anger, absolutely dying with eyes wide open.”

Meng Yunzheng laughed at her words, “Hmm… your idea is indeed more reliable. It seems that without you by my side, this plan of mine would really be full of mistakes, almost costing me my life.”

Shu Yu glared at him, “You’re teasing me.”

But indeed, the two of them returned home unburdened.

What they didn’t know was that, even though Gong Qiu was trapped, he still managed to communicate with the outside world through layers of encirclement.

He had operated for many years and would not readily accept death, having already prepared a backup plan in advance.

This backup plan included plans to break him out from the execution ground and also to kill Meng Yunzheng.

Since learning that it was Meng Yunzheng who presented the evidence to the Emperor and that he wasn’t his son, Gong Qiu had wanted him dead!

Previously, with Meng Yunzheng as a witness at the central judicial office, it was difficult to make a move. It was only after he left that the best opportunity arose.

Of course, Gong Qiu was also unaware that Meng Yunzheng was skilled, didn’t know of his collaboration with the Fifth Prince, or that he had protection, and those he sent might not be able to take his life.

However, once those people made a move, assassination attempts would become endless, and accidents would continuously occur.

Now that he had met with Gong Qiu, he had nipped this menace in the bud.

Gong Qiu naturally wouldn’t allow his only son to come to harm, so he retracted this backup plan, using all contingencies for the rescue at the execution ground.

Unfortunately, the Fifth Prince wanted to use this event to assert his power and wouldn’t allow any chance of an accident, thus placing layer upon layer of guards at the execution ground, with countless hidden forces.
