The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1117: Chapter 1117 Uncle Yan’s News

Meng Yunzheng held her hand, nodding as they walked, and whispered, ”Yes, we need to relocate. Once my father comes to the Capital, we’ll discuss the timeline for starting the work.”

Meng Yunzheng did not reveal the matter of Gong Qiu’s execution to Meng Pei.

But given the magnitude of the incident and the fact it’s been stirring for almost a month now, Meng Pei, with his eyes in the capital, must have received the news and is likely on his way here.

If expectations are correct, he should arrive in a few days.

”Where do you plan to relocate?”

Meng Yunzheng thought for a moment, ”Actually, my mother really likes Tianning County. We lived there for ten years; it’s essentially my mother’s home. But relocating to Tianning County would be quite lonely. With the Emperor already recognizing my mother’s status and asserting she is the Meng family’s wife, it should be to the Meng family’s ancestral grave, I suppose.”

The specific address will have to wait until his father arrives at the Capital to discuss.

However, when mentioning Tianning County, Shu Yu remembered the old beggar who had already gone insane.

Shu Yu had never spoken about this, having been constantly embroiled in Gong Qiu’s affairs as soon as he entered the capital, barely having a moment of rest. Later, he spent over half a month at the central judicial office, and once back, although time was available, Meng Yunzheng remained closely focused on when Gong Qiu would be executed, fearing any unexpected mishaps.

Such keen observation inadvertently shifted all of Shu Yu’s focus onto Gong Qiu, and for a short time, she genuinely didn’t think of Uncle Yan.

Now that everything was settled, Shu Yu suddenly slapped her forehead and told him, ”There’s a matter I forgot.”

”What is it?”

Shu Yu answered, ”Didn’t Ying Xi and I arrive by boat? When we reached the vicinity of Huajiang Prefecture, closest to board the ferry.”

Huajiang Prefecture??

Tianning County is a county under the jurisdiction of Huajiang Prefecture.

He paused, recalling something, and asked in surprise, ”Did you actually visit Tianning County?”

Shu Yu nodded, ”When we first arrived in Huajiang Prefecture, there weren’t any suitable ships at the dock, and Ying Xi wanted to visit her father, so we made a trip to Tianning County. Then, I walked around the entrance of Quansheng Escort Agency.”

”You...” Meng Yunzheng was surprised; Tianning County, the place he had grown up, yet hadn’t returned for over a decade to avoid attracting Gong Qiu’s attention.

Unable to contain himself, he asked, ”Is Quansheng Escort Agency... still there?”

”Yes, although half of the courtyard was burned and remains unrestored. Not only is the Quansheng Escort Agency still there, but for all these years, someone has been guarding its entrance. That person was originally the gatekeeper of Quansheng Escort Agency; Ying Xi said his name is Uncle Yan.”

Meng Yunzheng suddenly halted, turning his head in shock, his voice shifting, ”You mean, Uncle Yan has always been in Tianning County, at the entrance of the Escort Agency?”

”Yes.” Shu Yu recounted what happened that time, ending in a whisper, ”Across from the Escort Agency, someone has been watching from the inn constantly. I didn’t dare have much dialogue with Uncle Yan, nor dared tell him about you. Therefore, I couldn’t determine if he has truly gone mad or is pretending, deliberately confusing others.”

Upon hearing news of Uncle Yan, Meng Yunzheng was slightly agitated. Yet upon learning of his insanity, his brows immediately furrowed tightly.

Taking a deep breath, Meng Yunzheng said, ”Once Father arrives, we’ll promptly leave the Capital to find Uncle Yan.”

”Alright.”

The two quickly descended from the mountain, taking a carriage directly back home.

However, at this time, a vehicle was already parked at the entrance of the courtyard south of the city.
