The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1109: Chapter 1109: The Gong Family No Longer Exists

After leaving the central judicial office, Meng Yunzheng did not return to the Gong Family. The Gong Family no longer exists now.

Gong Chang was hastily buried, Gong Ya is still in prison, and Madam Gong recently experienced the tragic death of her son, her husband’s involvement in a rebellion case, and her own family being implicated. These successive blows caused her already frail health to deteriorate further.

As the wife of Gong Qiu, she naturally had to be interrogated. However, as soon as she entered the court, she couldn’t endure it and fainted on the spot, occasionally waking up only to fall back into unconsciousness.

The doctor said she didn’t have many days left.

The other members of the Gong Family were either arrested or detained, and the entire Gong Family estate was sealed.

Regarding this point, Shu Yu felt a bit perplexed.

As far as he knew, the plot of the book mentioned that when talking about the final fate of Gong Qiu, it seemed only Gong Qiu was executed, and the other members of the Gong Family were not punished.

Hmm? Wait a moment...

Thinking carefully, indeed the members of the Gong Family were not punished. Because before any punishment, Gong Xiao had already left the Gong Family, Madam Gong died of illness, Gong Chang was murdered, and Gong Ya, the murderer, was sentenced to death.

So, the members of the Gong Family indeed weren’t convicted because of Gong Qiu’s incident.

Shu Yu rubbed his temples, thinking, is this possible?

Just as he was pondering, there was a knock on the courtyard door, and Ying Xi immediately said, ”It must be Young Master Meng returning.”

Shu Yu was now at a small courtyard south of the city.

This small courtyard was bought by Meng Yunzheng in his early years, and Zhao Xi had prepared it early as their current place of stay.

Knowing Meng Yunzheng would return today, Shu Yu and Ying Xi came over early in the morning.

Upon hearing the knock, Ying Xi quickly went to open the door, indeed seeing Meng Yunzheng being brought back by Zhao Xi.

He looked somewhat haggard, even though as a witness staying at the central judicial office, the treatment in terms of food and lodging was generous. However, it wasn’t his home, and on top of that, the person he testified against was Gong Qiu. There were still people in the office loyal to Gong Qiu, so he was constantly on edge.

For the past half month, Meng Yunzheng had not had peace of mind.

Now back home, surrounded by close ones, he finally relaxed.

Shu Yu took him into the living room, then went to the kitchen to bring over some food, ”Hurry and eat something. These are all your favorite dishes. After you finish, take a nap, get some good rest; you’ve had a tiring time lately.”

Meng Yunzheng chuckled, ”Actually, it wasn’t too bad.”

Not too bad? How could it not be tough?

He endured for more than ten years, finally finding the opportunity to overthrow Gong Qiu and Noble Princess Consort Liu. He faced a joint trial by the three tribunals and had to deal with the Emperor and figures of high power like the Third Prince, as well as guard against the Second Prince’s secret forces, all the while keeping a vigilant eye on Gong Qiu’s outcome, lest he suddenly retaliated.

All these years of efforts and preparation were for this moment, and the energy he expended can only be imagined.

Meng Yunzheng just smiled and didn’t refute any more, taking the chopsticks she handed over and sat down to eat.

After eating, he obediently went to take a hot bath and was then nudged by Shu Yu to go to sleep.

He slept all the way until the next morning, waking up to look at the beams overhead and feeling particularly at ease.

At last... he avenged his mother.

When the day comes for Gong Qiu to be executed, he will personally go to his mother’s grave to tell her the good news.

Meng Yunzheng got out of bed and went out the door, intending to find Shu Yu, only to see her putting on makeup, and she was dressing as a man.

He was stunned for a moment, ”Why are you dressing like this again?”
