The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: Return to Yao Family

Shu Yu said, “Recently, people in the capital have been on edge, so it was not a good time for me to visit you. But now that things have settled down, I am indeed planning to come by.”

As she spoke, she stood up and went to the adjacent room to fetch a package.

“I also want to thank you for the Coming-of-age Ceremony gift you sent me; I really liked it. This time I’m in the capital, my father and mother have prepared some special products from Jiangyuan County, originally intending to send them to you last time.”

Qi Chan was not formal with her and accepted the package, handing it over to the attendants in the yard.

The two exchanged pleasantries for a few more moments before Qi Chan finally remembered the purpose of his visit.

He looked at Meng Yunzheng, who had been a silent background figure, and hesitated.

Initially, he indeed intended to persuade him to stay in the capital and serve as an official. He had already thought of the reasons and ways of persuasion and felt it wouldn’t be difficult. But upon seeing Shu Yu, he somehow felt the likelihood of success was low.

However… Qi Chan still felt it was a pity, and he wanted to try.

“Young Master Meng, you really don’t plan to stay in the capital?”

Meng Yunzheng smiled and said, “Lord Qi, I have considered it very thoroughly.”

Qi Chan looked at Shu Yu, “You won’t persuade him?”

Shu Yu chuckled, “Lord Qi, we have our own plans. But I assure you, his talent will not be wasted.”

Qi Chan raised his eyebrows, meaning that he wouldn’t spend his life idly in a small county town?

With things said to this point, Qi Chan knew further persuasion would be unhelpful.

“Alright, you two are smart and capable. Seeing you together, I suspect that even in a small county town, you might stir up quite a commotion.”

Shu Yu, “…” Why does this seem more like sarcasm than praise?

Seeing that it was getting late, Qi Chan prepared to leave.

He originally wanted to invite Shu Yu to be a guest at the Qi Family, but on second thought, he chose not to mention it.

He’s quite busy himself, and Shu Yu is unfamiliar with the other members of the Qi Family, so it would be uncomfortable.

Qi Chan left, no longer insisting on persuading Meng Yunzheng, Shu Yu felt a sense of relief.

After meeting with Qi Chan, Shu Yu didn’t plan to visit the Qi Family again, but a visit to the Yao Family was still necessary.

It was rare to come to the capital; Lu Erbai had also given Shu Yu a drawing to bring over to show Yao Tianqin.

Just uncertain if those annoying folks from the Yao Family were still around.

The next day, Shu Yu brought Ying Xi along again, carrying things to head to the Yao Family.

This time, there was no need for Shu Yu to step forward and ask; as soon as the gatekeeper saw Ying Xi, he immediately said, “Miss, please hold on a moment, I will report this to the master.”

Shu Yu and Ying Xi exchanged glances as the gatekeeper ran inside.

After a while, he came back out, accompanied by an old woman.

The old woman approached with a smile and said, “This old servant’s surname is Zhu, the miss may call me Nanny Zhu. Madam has instructed me to welcome the miss inside, please follow me.”

Shu Yu paused for a moment, then smiled and said, “Please lead the way, Nanny Zhu.”

“Miss, you’re too kind,” Nanny Zhu said while walking ahead, unobtrusively assessing Shu Yu with a few glances.

Seeing Ying Xi carrying a gift box, her smile deepened, and she quietly asked, “May I know the miss’s surname, and where are you visiting from?”

Last time when this miss visited, Madam had specifically asked the Cousin Young Master about how they met.

However, that Cousin Young Master spoke nothing truthful, claiming that this miss came with him, pretending to reject but with intent to take advantage of her connections.

Madam found it bothersome to listen, and without gaining any useful information, she stopped inquiring further.
