The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1104: Chapter 1104 Covering Up

Meng Yunzheng then continued, ”Later, my mother encountered my father, Meng Pei, while trying to escape. My father, who had been indebted to my mother when he was young, saw she was in trouble and brought her back to where he was staying.”

”Father knew mother had no place to go and not a coin to her name, so he kept her by his side. Eventually, they developed feelings for each other and became husband and wife. I...”

The Emperor raised his hand to interrupt him, ”When did they get married?”

”A month later.”

”A month?” The Emperor narrowed his eyes, ”Your father knew your mother was the one locked outside of Gong Qiu’s, how could he become her husband so easily in such a short time? This doesn’t make sense. He owed her a debt for saving him, and it was only right for him to lend a helping hand, but becoming her husband is taking it too far.”

Would any reasonable man, knowing this woman was someone else’s locked outside, marry her within a month? No matter how beautiful Mother was, even if Meng Pei loved her from the start, he wouldn’t rush to marry her in a month, would he?

Meng Yunzheng was silent for a moment before he said softly, ”Back then...” he took a deep breath, ”Back then, when my mother escaped from the Liu Family, she had already been drugged, so...”

This excuse, if the Emperor didn’t ask, Meng Yunzheng didn’t want to mention it, after all, it tarnishes his parents’ reputation.

But the Emperor asked, and if he didn’t complete the story, it wouldn’t make sense.

”My father was an escort at an escort agency, accustomed to roaming far and wide from a young age, which made him very loyal and responsible. He already had feelings for my mother, let alone under those circumstances. He didn’t care if my mother was the one locked outside or what her original status was. And my mother, having nowhere else to go, clung to father as if he were her lifeline.”

”Because... there was a relationship, my father worried my mother might be pregnant, which was why they married within such a brief time. The Meng family’s escort agency was originally in Jinyue Residence, but Jinyue Residence was too close to the Capital. After my mother followed my father back to his hometown, she accidentally saw some familiar faces. Fearing being recognized and again encountering Gong Qiu, my father simply took my mother to Tianning County and opened another Quansheng Escort Agency there.”

The Emperor listened thoughtfully, then nodded after a while, ”Continue.”

”My father’s concerns weren’t unfounded. Indeed, because of that, my mother became pregnant. However, her health wasn’t very good, possibly due to the earlier drugging or because her heart was always unsettled, making her pregnancy uneasy. In the later stages, after a fright, she gave birth prematurely, and the child born then was me.”

Meng Yunzheng spoke with increasing confidence, ”After I was born, my mother’s spirits improved, the past gradually faded from her mind, and she regained her health. My father was also very happy, believing the days ahead would only get better. This kind of life continued until I turned ten.”

”That year, father was out on a trip, and mother stayed home with me. Who would have thought one of Gong Qiu’s close associates would appear in Tianning County for business? Mother recognized him at a glance, knowing Gong Qiu would soon learn of her whereabouts, and knowing Gong Qiu wouldn’t spare our family. Mother decided to take me away from Tianning County, but ultimately, we were a step too late.”

”That night, the escort agency caught fire, and mother and I could barely stay conscious. When I woke up, most of the agency had burned down, and mother had died in the flames.”
