My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2389: Chapter 2224: Once Wished

Originally, I had thought about traveling around the world so that I could live happily.

In fact, Xia Jing just wanted to tell her husband that she wanted to travel around the world with him because such times are truly rare.

I had already missed out on so many great opportunities before, always thinking about how to complete my tasks within the organization.

But I forgot that I am also a woman, and I need to experience the life that many women want to. Why was I always so wilful, why did I always drag others along with me to get hurt?

Watching Zhang Zhentian flee in panic, Xia Jing couldn’t help but reflect on herself.

Just how much damage did I cause my husband to make him so scared, fleeing in panic without even giving me a chance to speak?

Seeing my husband act this way towards me, my heart still feels a twinge of guilt. But some things are truly beyond my control now; I walked this path step by step on my own. Since I chose this path back then, why do I keep reflecting on it repeatedly? If I were to abandon the choices I made, wouldn’t I have wasted my efforts? And what would make me any different from those who give up halfway?

As Zhang Yichen happened to pass by the door, he saw his father rushing out in panic and running out of the bedroom. He didn’t understand what happened; his first thought was that his mother had bullied his father again, and his father once again suffered in front of his mother without daring to say anything, having to quietly walk away on his own.

But this time, it wasn’t as he imagined; this time it was because his father was too cowardly to stand in front of his mother and hear her say that one sentence. If he had stood in front of his mother and heard her say that, he might have been thrilled, maybe even hugged his wife deeply, but instead, he fled in panic.

”Dad, what’s wrong with you? I saw you rushing out of the bedroom hastily, did something happen? Did mom say something to you again, or did she kick you out?”

I don’t know what kind of mentality you have towards my mom, but regardless, you shouldn’t indulge her like this. She keeps doing these things to you over and over again, why can’t you display some manly courage to persuade her?

If mom really kicked you out, don’t worry, I’ll definitely seek justice for you. I can’t believe it, why does she, a woman, always have the power to summon you or dismiss you at will? What does she take you for? Are you really a man? Show some basic manly courage, won’t you?”

”Shut up! No matter what, she is your mother; you have no right to speak against her or criticize her!

She painstakingly gave birth to you, which is the greatest gift to you; why do you keep criticizing her repeatedly? Today’s issue is because I was afraid she’d reject me, so I fled in fear. It’s me without the responsibility a man should have; why do you blame your mother, saying she kicked me out? You keep meddling in our affairs; isn’t that just making me feel humiliated?”

Zhang Yichen was stunned; he didn’t expect this time it was his father’s fault. He never thought his father’s panic caused this result and realized he had misunderstood his mom again.

Xiao Jing was in the bedroom listening to her son’s remarks about her; her heart felt truly disappointed. She didn’t expect the impression she left deep in her son’s heart was like this, always thinking she was wrong, doubting herself repeatedly.

She didn’t expect herself, as a mother, to be so unsuccessful, unable to provide even the most basic lifestyle for her son, unable to gain the most basic trust; she felt she was truly the most incapable mother in the world.

”Child, I really just wanted to travel around the world with your mother. Over these years, although we’ve been wandering outside, always restless, you all think we live happily outside, but who can understand the anxiety we live with?

I wanted to take her to enjoy the infinite beauty of nature; I wanted her to experience the best things in the world. I don’t want her to live such a tiring life; I want her to live the kind of life no other woman has lived on this earth.

Before, I had no opportunity or ability to take her around the world, but now things have reached this point; I want to complete everything I wish to do for her. Otherwise, if she really leaves me one day, what can I do then? I’ll only be able to watch her laughing in someone else’s arms secretly, while I can only silently observe behind the scenes. Do you know how desperate that feeling is?”

Xia Jing cried after hearing Zhang Zhentian’s words, she couldn’t help it. She never thought her decisions might lead to such an outcome; it turns out her husband’s sudden suggestion to take her around the world was just out of fear that one day she’d truly leave him. He never would have any chance then to let her possess the best things in the world, he just wanted to leave it all for her as the most beautiful memory.

”Dad, do you mean you’re afraid one day mom might leave you, so taking her around the world is just to keep these best memories forever in your mind, to live the rest of your life with these memories, right?

Have you really never considered whether doing this is worthwhile?

Actually, deep inside, my mom hasn’t forgotten about you; despite all you’ve done for her now, she’ll only feel more grateful. It’s just some things truly can’t be forgotten just by saying it, so...”

”I know now; I really don’t understand if I comprehend it anymore. Before, I could not care, I could wait, but now I can’t wait. I’m truly afraid one day she’ll really leave me. I just want to engrave the best memories between us forever in my mind. Even if she leaves me this lifetime, I’ll still have the sweetest memories with her; she will be the most beautiful wealth of my life...”

But now I realize that even wandering around the world is not as happy as being by my parents’ side!
