My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2383: Chapter 2216: Crying

Do you remember how many times I have cried for you?

Zhang Zhentian never realized that his son had such a deep resentment toward him. It was only when he heard it did he understand. His son harbored such a deep-seated hatred, trying to prove himself as the strongest, not allowing himself to suffer. Even through devilish training, he persevered to the end. What kind of hatred could drive a son to reach this point? Every action he took, every decision he made, were they right or wrong? Reflecting on everything he once did, just how ridiculously wrong was he?

”At that moment of abandonment, we weren’t reluctant. We still couldn’t bear it. I had no choice then. I abandoned you ruthlessly to wander the world with your mother. When I left, your mother cried because no matter what, you were our child. For parents, abandoning a child, even for an instant, isn’t possible. But I never thought that over the years you would accumulate so much hatred toward us. Step by step, you were filled with hatred for us. Aren’t you tired of living with it? Think about everything you have done. I can understand your reasons, but I can never forget the moment I left you, how heartbroken you were. She held onto you tightly and would never let go, wanting to keep you by her side. Initially, she suggested leaving, and eventually, he chose to give up.

He was willing to give up his freedom for you, sitting at home, never stepping out the door, as long as he could stay by your side. To him, that was the greatest happiness because she was a mother. But I couldn’t bear to see her abandon her freedom for you. He longed for freedom so much, admired it like it was his own life. If he lost his freedom, wouldn’t he also be abandoning his life? How could I bear to let her face such an end?”

”So, because of disagreement, you took my mother and persuaded her to leave together, heartlessly abandoning me at home. You said you’d be away for a few days, wanting to tour the world. You could have taken me and grandpa with you, but you didn’t. That proves just how selfish and self-centered you really were inside.

For you, in your eyes, the family relations and the interests of relatives and friends were forever less important than your so-called freedom. Is freedom really so wonderful?

You chose freedom, never caring about how much pain I felt deep inside. Time and again, I told the whole world you were my parents. I so wanted to tell them I had parents, that they were just on a trip and temporarily couldn’t return. But I had no way to say that. I didn’t have the confidence to say it because deep inside, I knew more than anyone that being parents wasn’t just about those days or being on a trip, but about choosing to abandon me to find your freedom.

Time and again, I deluded myself, burying my thoughts deep within. I dared not let anyone believe that everything I did had a reason. I only let people see that everything I did was right. No matter what price I paid, no matter what I ultimately gained, all of this was the culmination of a path I tread alone. How could I blame others for hurting me again and again? I fear facing betrayal after betrayal.

You might never understand the piercing pain of being betrayed by your closest ones. To be abandoned and hurt over and over is an unforgettable experience. Burying all the hurt deep within, I never share it with anyone. Only the one hurt would understand. Even if I speak out, others wouldn’t empathize, seeing it as just a story or a passing description. You feel the pain. Only the hurt deep inside truly understands the torment. Time and again, I can’t forget the heavy hurt you caused, nor the blows grandpa suffered because of you. Just like my wife now, all because of you, she ended up like this. When trouble arises, you wash your hands and leave, shirking responsibility. Do you not have any sense of duty?

Do you think you can come and go from this home as you please? Say a few nice words, and people will forgive you, letting you back into the family. And then, when you want to leave, you shout and leave. Is it that easy to be part of this family? If it were, anyone could just waltz in, and our family wouldn’t be as strong, lasting till today.

It’s time you consider things from grandpa’s perspective. If there’s a shred of conscience left in you, sincerely apologize to grandpa when you get back. Don’t let grandpa be angry at anyone else because of this. My wife being in this state is not solely your fault. It relates a lot to both you and me. I’d take the consequences for my mistakes and care for her to bring her back to normal. But if you truly feel sorry for grandpa, feel you’ve wronged this home and him, then sincerely talk to him. Promise you’d stay with this family for a lifetime, whatever happens, never stepping a foot out of this home, no matter who chooses to leave. You’d never leave anyone behind!

If you’re truly willing to do this, I believe you’ve genuinely changed. You genuinely want to stay for this family’s every member. If you can’t even manage that, it only reminds me that you’re merely putting on a show. You’ve never considered your family’s feelings. Please consider your actions from the perspective of your family members. Understand if they would be hurt. I have nothing more to say. Whatever path or consequence lies ahead, is up to you. Saying more would be in vain. If your heart is set on leaving, my words won’t matter. But still, I plead you reconsider. The harm done, the pain caused is enough already!”

Though the heartache is self-inflicted, life remains exhausting and agonizing!
