My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2357: Chapter 2190: Not That Easy

Love isn’t that simple, it’s not just something you can say and have.

Ran Zhihan watched her husband’s departing back, and she could only be angry in silence, knowing this matter wasn’t as simple as she had imagined. Once such an event happens, it won’t change for anyone just because of a few words of pleading.

But now that this has happened, what method should she choose to save it? If her husband were to discover the truth, the consequences would be unimaginable, such a risk is something no one can afford to take. She absolutely cannot risk herself.

Thump, thump, thump...

Ran Zhihan heard her phone ringing. She quickly opened it to find a message from her so-called junior high school classmate (Chen Gang). But why did seeing such a message make her feel increasingly uneasy inside?

”Zhihan, I know, maybe you don’t want to hear me right now. I admit what happened tonight was impulsive of me, I shouldn’t have confessed to you so directly. I just couldn’t bear the thought of losing you again. I just want to keep you by my side. So I made that rash move tonight, and I hope you can forgive me.

Your husband actually doesn’t love you. I can see that you’re in a lot of pain and torment inside. Since that’s the case, why don’t you choose to leave him and come to me? I’ve been longing for you since junior high, but you never even gave me a glance. Am I really that worthless in your eyes? You won’t even spare me a look, don’t you know how much I long to be with you until old age? ℴℴ𝘮

I’ll wait for you at the bar tomorrow night, don’t disappoint me. If you don’t come, I’ll wait there all night. If you still consider me your classmate or friend, please come out and see me once!”

Ran Zhihan felt even worse inside seeing such a message. She knew it was wrong to do this, but she was worried about what might happen if she didn’t go. Would he end up waiting there all night in vain? She didn’t want that to happen either, nor did she want to owe someone else a favor. When she forced herself to go to this place, it turned out it was all just a setup.

Zhang Yichen saw that his wife stayed home all day, and he was sure she wouldn’t go out and do something that would embarrass him. But he didn’t expect that in the middle of the night, his wife would sneak out again.

Ran Zhihan arrived at the bar and saw Chen Gang drinking heavily, entirely lost in the intoxication. For some reason, a feeling of pain inexplicably emerged in her heart. This man before her was only a classmate, so why did she feel so upset seeing him now? Could it be because she once liked him?

Remembering the time when I liked a man but couldn’t express it, knowing he was right there in front of me, and seeing him confessing his feelings sincerely, I could only steadfastly reject him and tell him my insincere thoughts.

At that time, I felt unworthy of the man before me no matter what. He was so excellent, excelling academically, how could someone like me be worthy of his status and position? Since I couldn’t give him the best, I didn’t want to become a burden to him.

”Chen Gang, stop drinking, it’s already late in the night, why are you drinking so much? Don’t you know it’s worrisome to see you like this!”

”Zhihan, you’ve come? Don’t worry about me. No matter how much I drink, no one ever cares, and you don’t care about me. What difference does it make if the whole world cares? Their concerns aren’t from you. All I want is for you to look at me a bit more, to spend more time talking to me. I know my coming back put you in a difficult position, saying these words makes you uncomfortable, but consider my feelings. I’ve pursued you for so many years. You’re married with kids now, yet I’m still waiting on you. Are you really that indifferent?”

”I’ve told you, it’s impossible between us. I’m already married, I have a husband, and I have children too. I can’t do as I please like before. I admit, during school, I did like you, but at that time I felt I couldn’t live up to you no matter what, unable to make you happy. Since that’s the case, I couldn’t drag you down and obstruct your future. I gave up on you back then, so why come back now and say these things? Don’t you think it’ll make our relationship even more awkward and unbearable?

I know what you’re thinking inside, I don’t want my husband to doubt me again. He already had suspicions just because I came home so late last night. I don’t want my hard-earned marriage to break just because of a couple of meetings between us. I don’t want such a thing to happen to me. If you truly love me, if you genuinely care, then please consider this for me and don’t do something that would hurt me. I really can’t take it!”

After speaking, Ran Zhihan turned to leave, but Chen Gang suddenly pulled her into an embrace and kissed her abruptly.

Ran Zhihan’s eyes widened. She couldn’t believe this man forcibly kissed her. If her husband found out about this, what would the consequences be? All she could think about was the ending she might face and what consequences she might encounter. She didn’t realize her actions were deeply hurting the person before her and also the husband waiting for her at home, who loved her dearly.

”Let go of me, don’t you know that your actions make me look down on you? I’ve told you so clearly, so plainly, why do you insist on being with me? Don’t you know it leaves me utterly confused?

We were never together, and we won’t be now. Don’t forget I already have a family and children. You’re no longer that innocent girl you once were. You don’t need to go to great lengths to win me over.

Even if you could have me now, what you’d get wouldn’t be whole. Such a situation wouldn’t be fair to anyone. Why not find a perfect girl to marry, have kids with, and create a happy life that belongs to you?”

Life forces me to go on, forcing me to persist.
