My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2372: Chapter 2205: Simple

Even now, I still remember all your habits!

”Dad, I don’t want to argue anymore about who’s right or wrong about this matter, because discussing it is pointless. As you said, we’re family now. We’ve all returned to this family. Can’t we let go of our past prejudices and live together harmoniously?

I know the things I’ve done in the past really hurt you, but I’ve already paid for them. I’ve set aside all my pride and come to ask you to take me back. Isn’t that sincere enough?

In your eyes, what do I need to do to show sincerity? Do you think I should kneel at the doorstep for three days and nights before pleading with you for forgiveness, only then you would see my sincerity?

You are my father. I believe seeing your son suffering outside all these years has hurt you inside, but for the sake of pride, you can’t let these things go, because some things are indeed hard to forget!

But no matter what, I am still your son. No matter how many conflicts we have, this is an unchangeable fact. Even if time goes backward, we are still bound by blood, and there’s no way to sever it. My mom worked hard to give birth to me and gave me life, and you worked hard to raise me, giving me a life without worry. I’m truly grateful, but some things I can’t accomplish just because I wish to.

I also hope that my father can occasionally look at things from my perspective and understand my struggles. It’s not easy for me either. Everything I do is to make sure everyone lives happily. Why doesn’t anyone understand my good intentions and always think that what I do is to hurt you?

Just because I’ve hurt you once in the past, does everything I do look like harm to you? Why do you doubt me like this? Don’t we even have the most basic trust between us, father and son?”

At this moment, Old Master Zhang was at a loss for words.

He discovered his son could be so sharp. When he forced him to leave home back then, why did he choose silence? Did he really see his father as heartless? If he had bowed his head and spoken a few kind words, begged not to be driven out, as a father he would never have forced him out, as he’s part of the Zhang Family.

”Regarding other things, I don’t want to have any disputes with you now. Bringing it up does us no good. I just want us to live peacefully at home. You’re my son, indeed. I know I caused great harm to you back then, and I know it was a heavy blow for you. But you chose that path, and now you regret it, should you blame your father for that?

Frankly, even if you want to blame me now, saying I forcibly pushed you out of the family, leaving you unable to return, I can tell you clearly that no matter how you say it, it’s meaningless to me. In your heart, you’ve already seen me as a stranger, saying you want to make amends to everyone at home. But no matter what you do, in my heart, your past choices can’t be blamed on me. I didn’t do wrong, nor did I force you to leave. I didn’t hold a knife to your neck and make you do it!

Can you truly reflect on your mistakes? For what reason are you doing this? Why blame others for your mistakes? Should we all just let you blame us repeatedly and hurt us again and again?

Son, as a father, I would never force my child. But the words you said today really hurt me deeply inside. You should never doubt the sincere love I hold for you in my heart as your father!”

”Dad, you know my words don’t mean that. I’m doing this for some fairness. If you never intended to exclude me, then please frankly tell me why. Why did you refuse me when I returned home, out of hatred or for your son’s sake?”

Old Master Zhang never thought a problem entangled for so many years would ultimately be exposed so frankly.

”Since you insist on knowing the truth, fine, I’ll tell you. Yes, I refused you and your son’s return not only because of your son but also for my own reasons. I didn’t want to see you, because you forgot about me when you left home, you didn’t consider the pain your leaving would bring. You only thought about yourselves, forgetting you had an aging father to care for.

You might be surprised by what I’ve said, but it’s true. I never thought we’d come to this point, nor did I think I’d easily forgive you. If it were up to me, I would never let you come back. Time and again, I’ve turned you away, and deep down, you must resent me, right?

Since you hate me so much, why pretend you care and want to come back to look after me? Are you waiting for me to pass away so you can take charge?”

In the end, there wasn’t anything left to discuss between them.
