My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2386: Chapter 2221: Cold?

The happiness of happiness is something you build through your own efforts.

Right now, Xia Jing suddenly finds Zhang Zhentian incredibly funny, telling himself over and over again that everything from the past cannot be brought back.

”Zhang Zhentian, don’t you think you are really immature? Have you even thought about how you’re able to say these words? Time and again you ask yourself sincerely, just how many times have you done this? Don’t you remember any of it in your heart? Even if you’ve forgotten everything, I haven’t; I’m remembering it all clearly for you!

You must be very curious why I still remember these things, right? It’s because I want you to know that some things cannot be forgotten just by saying you want to forget them. All the hurt you caused me—I will forever remember, no matter how deeply in love we once were.

When I heard you say you wanted to commit suicide for me, I couldn’t help but feel uneasy and lucky. I thought you wouldn’t go to such an extent for me, even if you truly loved me. After all, you have your own family, your own parents, your own responsibilities. You would still think twice because of everyone’s feelings. Yet, I didn’t expect you to be so impulsive, to decide so easily to end your life. Do you think that kind of action is fair to these family members who truly love you, who see you as their most important relative?

Everyone thinks I’m being difficult, but do you guys really consider who is being selfish, who lacks boundaries? Who, time and again, threatens everyone, causing disagreements? In the end, who gets hurt? It’s always the family.

If you truly understand, then please take responsibility for every word you say. Don’t always think about your father standing here, unwilling to bear anything. You’ve made your father speak to you harshly; he’s your biological father! How could you bear to end your life before him? What kind of thoughts should he have deep in his heart? How much pain, how much bewilderment?”

Listening to Xia Jing’s words, Zhang Zhentian turned to look at Old Master Zhang, choosing to say nothing. Seeing his son shake his head, Zhang Zhentian realized that his father was genuinely disappointed in him this time.

”I truly didn’t expect that you could be so foolish. I thought after all these years, even if you haven’t lived at home, you would at least understand that life is precious, yet you treat your own life as if it’s nothing.

At that moment when you took that step, I doubted whether you are truly my son. Why would my son be foolish to such an extent? Kids treat their lives as critically important, but why are you so foolish? I can hardly believe you and he are the same person. Can you tell me where my original son went?

Actually, asking this question is completely unnecessary. You and my son are basically the same; both are willing to do anything for their wife, exhausting all their thoughts, regardless of the pain of their family. What you desire is always only that woman in your eyes, certainly forgetting your own family. How painful is it to watch your own son die beside you?

People are inherently selfish; as the saying goes, if one does not think of oneself, heaven and earth will end. But being selfish to this extent is very rare!

I do not know what benefits your selfishness brings. Time and again, you disregard your own relatives, treating them like puppets to take and discard, to hurt. In your eyes, relatives are so insignificant, not worth mentioning. However, when you find them helpful, you return to them, treating them as your lovers. In your eyes, what are lovers?

At that moment, I could hardly believe you are my son. How could my son act this way? Even if my son doesn’t take responsibility, he wouldn’t go to this extent. To choose to hang himself before his own father—isn’t that pushing his father to a dead end?”

Only now does Zhang Zhentian realize his actions were done in front of his father. His father was truly scared, terrified of losing his son. How did his actions treat his father? Never once considering his father’s capacity to endure, only persistently pursuing what he wants, forgetting completely what his family truly desires.

”Dad, I’m sorry. I didn’t think it through just now; my actions lacked consideration, causing you worry. Only now do I realize my father truly cares about me. All these years, I haven’t been by your side, yet you care so much. This is simply a huge surprise for me. I could never have imagined returning home, finding my father can still care for my life or death. I originally thought, whether I lived or died outside wouldn’t matter to my father. Since the day I left home, you all chose to abandon me. But now, with such an outcome, how could I not be surprised or shocked?”

”We’ve said it long ago, whatever wrong you’ve done, however much humanity you’ve lost or how many people you’ve killed, we’re always your parents and you’re always our son. No matter how many mistakes you make, we will forgive you endlessly. Because your mistakes only show our failure in educating you properly, in fulfilling our parental responsibilities. All responsibility shouldn’t fall on you alone. We parents must share the burden. Yet, in that moment, I was genuinely fearful. I once thought I didn’t need to care about whether you lived or died. Your life or death doesn’t concern me. But I was truly afraid, afraid of losing you again; that kind of suffering due to gain and loss is unbearably painful!

I’ve lost you more than once; you’re my son—how can I not care about you deep down? I can’t turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to you. No matter what, your blood flows through you, and that bond can’t be severed throughout this life!”

Family ties are the most unyielding bonds; parents are the most precious!
