My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2095: Chapter 1928: Once Upon a Time

Long, long ago, the secrets between you and me were only hidden in the look between our brows, and I still remember watching every little moment of your life, watching you during the military training in your first year of high school, watching the stars scattered all over the sky.

Time passed day by day, and during this period, Xia Jing had been thinking every single day about whether everything she had done was actually wrong.

She didn’t know what she was supposed to do now to make all of this turn out differently!

These days, whenever she had nothing to do, Xia Jing would hide and avoid seeing Zhang Zhentian.

Zhang Zhentian went to look for Xia Jing every day, but every time he came back with nothing. He really couldn’t figure out why, during this period, his wife kept hiding from him.

He went to his wife’s place again and again to look for her, but every time he got no result at all, and that made him very unhappy inside.

Every day when he went to look for Xia Jing, it just so happened that she wasn’t home; again and again, it had already worn away all his patience.

He felt that he had already reached the point where he could no longer endure it.

”Yichen, do you know where your mom has been staying these past few days? Why is it that I’ve searched so many places and still haven’t seen a trace of her?”

Now that Zhang Zhentian knew he had no way to find Xia Jing, he simply decided to let his son go look.

In Zhang Zhentian’s eyes, his son was now someone with boundless connections and abilities.

As long as it was something he wanted, his son could always find it. Right now he really didn’t want anything else; he just wanted to quickly bring his wife back to his side again. All the past things no longer mattered at all; as long as the woman he loved could stay by his side, that would be enough. Why should he care so much about all the rights and wrongs? If he really did, then how was he supposed to ever be happy in this lifetime?

”Dad, it’s not like you don’t know. If even you can’t find my mom in this world, do you really think I, as her son, can find her? Even if my network is really wide, if she’s determined to hide from me and doesn’t want to see us, then even if we go to the ends of the earth, she still won’t show up.

Things between a husband and wife have to be slowly磨合 by the two of you, slowly worked through and resolved; you can’t rely on other people’s involvement. Even if I get involved this time and help you find her, it still won’t solve the root problem. Do you think you two would be happy together like that?

Maybe right now, in my mom’s heart, what she wants is just to find a quiet place for herself where she can calm down and think about what she should do. If we disturb her now, won’t it backfire? Maybe when she has figured it out one day, she’ll come out on her own. But if we forcefully drag her back, will she really be happy?

I believe that since you love my mom so much, you should know what kind of person she is, what kind of temper she has, what kind of mindset, and what attitude she has toward things.

If you choose to do it this way, will you end up pushing her farther and farther away? Every decision will affect every path you take in the future. Have you really never thought about that?

I know there are some things I probably shouldn’t interfere in, but seeing you two like this, I feel terrible inside too. I also want to do my best to help you both, but as a son I have no way to really help you. This path, every bit of it, is one she chose herself. If she chose to do this, then what can I do? The things between the two of you still have to be resolved by yourselves. Even if I help you solve the problem for now, the same problem will still show up again later.”

Zhang Yichen tried to persuade his father. He knew that even if his father could ignore everything else in the world, he would never ignore his mother!

Sure enough, when Zhang Zhentian heard Zhang Yichen say this to him, he felt that he should give Xia Jing some time.

”Maybe you’re right. Then I’ll try to give your mom some time. But I hope that after I give her this time, the result of her thinking won’t disappoint me.

I don’t care how many things she’s done wrong, and I don’t care who she’s thinking about in her heart. I only want her to stay by my side, to stay in this family, and that will be enough. Some things have already passed. No matter how much I want them to go back to the way they were before, it’s impossible, so why should I still be so petty and narrow-minded this time?

I’ll give her time, let her slowly think about whether she wants to come back to me or not. If she comes back to me this time, then no matter what, I will never let her leave me again. From the very beginning, I never truly made up my mind to let her go, because I couldn’t bear it.

How could decades of married life be forgotten just like that? I want her to see how unimportant some things really are. But in my outlook on life, everything she cares about, I can choose not to think about. As long as she can be happy, that’s enough. My greatest wish in this life is to see her smiling happily, carefree and unburdened!”

Zhang Yichen hadn’t expected his father to have such deep feelings for his mother. His mother was the one who did wrong first, and yet his father still didn’t care about any of the rights and wrongs because he loved her. If something like this happened to him one day, what choice would he make? Would he immediately choose to kick his wife out of the house and never let her come back to him for the rest of her life?

Maybe everyone has a different attitude toward things, and everyone’s view is different. In his eyes, this was a huge matter, but in his father’s eyes, for the sake of loving his mother, he could disregard everything. A love like that, to him, was something he could only long for but never truly have, because he already had the whole world, and he had to protect everything he had no matter what. He had already walked a path that was too bitter; only he knew how much he had paid, how much effort he had put in, to achieve all this!

”Dad, I never imagined you could love my mom so deeply. Seeing you like this, sometimes I ask myself, if I encountered the same thing, would I make the same choice as you? Maybe I really wouldn’t, because you can roam the world carefree, but I can’t. I have my own family here, I already have my own place in this world, and I got here step by step by my own effort, so there’s no way I can just give it up!”

”Son, I understand your decision, and I can completely understand you. I know all too well how hard it’s been for you to get to today. If you make a different choice from mine, that’s only natural. How could I possibly force you to make the same decision as me?”

How beautiful the times gone by were; how I wish I could go back to five years ago. The ”forever” we once sang about was always directed at the person in our hearts.
