My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2078: Chapter 1911: Perseverance

”Grandpa, I know how devastated she was when she said those words, but I didn’t comfort her!”

Zhang Zhentian knew that his wife said so much just to make him back off, but he wasn’t someone who would easily retreat. Since he made that decision, no matter what, he wouldn’t regret it. As long as he could stay by his wife’s side, nothing else mattered. Even if he suffered grievances, so what?

On the contrary, he saw how much his wife had considered for him, and he was truly touched. He never imagined he could one day share the same attitude as his wife. In the past, whatever he did would bring great pain to his wife, because in her eyes, everything he did was wrong.

But today he realized that all those years of effort weren’t wasted, nor were they unnoticed by his wife. She was just pretending not to see, silently enduring everything alone, and now he couldn’t help but show it.

”Honey, I don’t care what you think, I just want to tell you that my decision will never change. Since I initially decided to stay by your side, I will stay by your side no matter what. Even if you want to drive me away, I won’t leave!

Over the years, we’ve relied on each other, accompanying each other for so many years. Do you truly not have any love for me in your heart? If you don’t love me, why do you care about me? If you don’t love me, why worry about me getting hurt so much?

You just don’t dare to trust yourself, you’re afraid to face your own heart.

Because those people of yours occupy my place, you’re afraid they have, and I think you let them down. But don’t you know that so many years have passed? Even if you meet again, can you return to what you once were? The past is the past, shouldn’t you cherish the present and live happily with me? Isn’t that more important to you?

If you keep holding onto the past, neither of us will be able to be happy. Everyone wants happiness, life is really simple: just having loved ones nearby, being worry-free about food and clothing, living the life you want—that’s the greatest happiness, and you are the greatest happiness I have.

Don’t think these words I’m telling you are sweet talk. Every word I say is sincere. I genuinely want to be with you, and that desire has never changed. I’ve longed for this day, being together with you, I’d be so happy. But now that this day has come, why do you tell me such cruel truths after so many years?

Seeing me live so dejectedly, are you really happy? You know how conflicted and painful I feel inside, yet you still resolutely tell me this outcome.

I know, although you tell me this outcome, you just want to be honest with me. But don’t you know that every impulsive decision you’ve made has put us in different predicaments?”

”Yes, I hope you stop saying certain things no matter what. We really have no relationship, nor any possibility of being together. If you truly hope that one day I can accept your words, then you should let go. I’ve said I would slowly try, and I have to admit my heart is conflicted because of you.

You’re right, I’m afraid if I’m with you, I’d let him down. But this torment makes me so painfully conflicted inside, growing with each day. I don’t know what choice is right. I want to live peacefully with you, but I can’t let him down!”

”From the day you married me, you were already letting him down. Why say these things now? Do you think these words still have any meaning? Saying and doing these things, will he return to your side? No, he won’t!

Repeatedly using self-deception to numb yourself, does that kind of you truly feel happy? It’s so evident what kind of life you want, but you don’t know what you should really do!

Perhaps you think my demands are too harsh, but I truly want to express my deepest thoughts to you, so I told you these things without hesitation!

I just want to share my honest feelings with you, hoping you’d stay by my side and live a happy life together. Stop fighting unnecessarily like before; living like that is really tiring. We could have a very happy family, so why complicate it?”

Xia Jing really didn’t know what to say. No matter what she said, it seemed like arguing to her husband, who had other reasons to counter everything she said. To him, everything she did and said was wrong.

Suddenly, she felt so exhausted being with her husband, because everything she said was wrong. What’s the point of being together like this? Might as well separate early.

Zhang Zhentian feared his wife would reject him, so he repeatedly gazed at her with longing, hoping she would leave some room for them, rather than being so decisive. He just wanted to stay by her side, why must it be this way to reject him? After rejecting him, would he really be happy?

Does staying by his side really make his wife feel so self-assured and uncomfortable? The repeated hurt ultimately made him feel tormented inside.

”You say nothing to me, just stay quietly here. I just want to tell you, whatever decision you make, I’ll support you, but at least respect my personal wishes. It hurts me too!”

Maybe ultimately, I still drove him away from my side.
