My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2058: Chapter 1891: Fierce?

If fate really destined us to be together, I would definitely hold your hand tight and never let go!

Zhang Zhentian knew exactly what his father meant when he said those words to him. He was too aware of how deep-seated his father’s prejudices against him were, and how biased they were. All of it was a result of his own actions; who could he blame? Even if his father said the harshest words to him, he had to endure, because only by learning to endure would the road ahead be less difficult. Since he chose to take this step, since he chose to become what he is now, what right did he have to ask others to change for him time and again?

”Dad, I know. I know that deep down, you still have biases against me. I also know that the things we’ve done in the past aren’t so easily forgiven. I don’t blame anyone, but I just want you to know that everything I’ve done, I never thought it would lead to today. I never thought I would have such a hard life these past years. All I ever wanted was for you to let me come back, for you to just say the word. But you didn’t say anything, and it left me with no way to put aside my pride and return, asking you to take me back. I could only go on relying on that pitiful shred of self-respect I had to make it to today!

Maybe you don’t know how difficult this road has been for me, but do you know? Every time I came close to here, every time I reached the vicinity of our home, I was so eager to come back and see how you were doing, even if it meant just sitting and having a cup of tea before leaving again. But I didn’t have the courage to return. In the end, when I finally mustered the courage to come back to this house, you chose to shut me out. At that moment, I felt so bitter. I never thought that the courage I gathered would ultimately be in vain, because in your eyes, even if I came back with all the courage I had, you wouldn’t forgive me. Because what I did was simply unforgivable!

But today, when you chose to let me return home, do you know how grateful I am? I’m thankful to the heavens for giving me another chance to come back home. I thank you for willingly allowing me to return, even though step by step you’ve had trouble putting down what you call your pride. In reality, you’re just like me.

Dad, we’re all living hard lives. In the past, we were all willing to give everything for the things we wanted, as long as the ones we loved could stay by our side. What does it matter if it costs us something? We’ve all come this far. I don’t know what words to use to tell you. You know that everyone in the Zhang Family loves passionately. Once we’ve decided to love a girl wholeheartedly, once we’ve decided to live with a woman, we would never let go of her no matter what. You should understand this feeling!

I know you’ve all thought my departure was because of my wife, but do you know why I did it? None of you tried to understand my reasons. What I want is simple, not too much or too little. As long as my wife stays by my side, as long as I can live happily with her, as long as I have a place in her heart, then I don’t care about anything else.”

Old Master Zhang felt anger rising when he heard his son talk about this. He had waited so many years, hoping his son and daughter-in-law could live happily. But who would have thought that deep in his daughter-in-law’s heart, it wasn’t his son she cared for. For a father, this was a form of humiliation.

”Don’t you understand deep down now? This woman in front of you doesn’t hold you in her heart at all. If it weren’t for the fights and the fierce arguments you had, how could you have ended up like this? In your heart, there’s only her, and you don’t even care about me, your father?

Some things should be clear to you. If you’ve made the wrong decision, in the end, all you’ll receive is hurt. No matter how much you give for this woman, if she doesn’t have you in her heart, it doesn’t matter what you do for her or how hard you try. You will never hold any place in her heart. How can you not understand this by now?

I originally thought you had figured it out. In my mind, as long as you did, as long as you could continue living, I wouldn’t say a word. But I didn’t realize you’d still defend her. What’s the use of speaking so well of her? Look at him, does he show any sign of regret? Not at all. She doesn’t care about these things, so why do you care so much?

Child, I know. Every one of us in the Zhang Family is passionate, and once we’ve decided on who our wife is, we follow her in life and death. We would never let go of her hand till the end. Yet, your situation isn’t love. She’s just using you. Don’t you understand how she truly sees you within?

”Dad, I don’t care how those people view me. In my world, as long as she’s willing to stay by my side, even if she thinks of someone else in her heart, just being able to see her every day is happiness for me. Do you understand the feeling of a woman being by your side, willing to go through thick and thin with you? These years, although life has been rough, and I’ve struggled daily, having her by my side constantly fills me with happiness that no one else can give me!

The happiness given by family is different from the happiness given by one’s lover!

Every path we choose leads to different outcomes. I’ve heard these words too many times, and I really don’t want to hear them again. These words mean nothing to me now; they have no impact. I’m used to doing my own things my own way, and I won’t change my views because of anyone’s actions!”

Every time I ask you, your evasive tone leaves me guessing. I don’t know if you’re thinking about having a home with me!
