My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2055: Chapter 1848: If

If my world didn’t have you, how wronged I would feel!

Zhang Zhentian decided to take the first step, to thank his son and express sincere gratitude to his grandson.

Even though this family had already been turned upside down because of his presence, they were still willing to let him stay. He kept persuading himself, though he couldn’t quite understand why, in the end, this was the result he most desired. No one wants to return home only to leave again.

No matter what, the people in this family are his relatives. No matter when or where, he should take care of his family, accompany them well, give them the warmest feelings and the most genuine care. But what has he done all these years? He cruelly abandoned his family and chose to abandon them once again.

Now she finally understood how much her father’s heart ached when she spoke those words. Though his heart was heavy, he could only grit his teeth and say he didn’t care. How sorrowful she must have been! Yet now, without considering anything, she wanted only her so-called freedom and would stop at nothing to achieve her goals, even at the cost of hurting her loved ones. Was this truly the decision she should make, the path she should take?

”Grandpa?”

Zhang Ni saw Zhang Zhentian walking toward him. He thought maybe today he should clarify things.

He didn’t understand why his grandpa went to the hospital. Was it to stimulate his mother? He truly didn’t want his mom to suffer even a little hurt.

He had already made the family as discordant as it was due to his repeated appearances. He could only endure and let him remain in this family, yet now, he still wanted to say some hurtful words to him. How could he let his strong-willed mother face this?

Now, his mind was in turmoil. He wasn’t sure if allowing such things to continue would cause his mother to impulsively do something he would regret for the rest of his life.

If his actions truly caused his mother harm, how could he continue to live in this society for the rest of his life? A person who couldn’t even protect his own mother, how would he have the right to protect the ones he loves? What reason would he have to promise his family the happiest and most stable harbor of love? Such a thing was impossible.

”Child, I heard your conversation with your father. I’m sorry, this is my fault. I feel very apologetic and sincerely say sorry to you. It’s because of me that this family has become like this. Perhaps it’s really because of my presence that the family’s troubles have never ceased. I don’t understand what I should do. Time and again, I wanted only to bring joy to my family, yet the result was quite the opposite. All I brought you was hurt.

Originally, I was determined to leave this family and not live here anymore. Then, when you interceded for me time and again and tried to retain me, I realized how much I yearned to stay. Staying here is a kind of happiness. I abandoned my happiness for so many years, never lived in my family, never even had a reunion meal. When I was abroad, I longed so much to be home during festivals. I appeared happy to everyone, but my heart was with you, and I was sad outside. I didn’t want your mother to feel pressured. I just wanted my wife to be happy. As long as I saw a smile on her face, no matter how tough or tiring my life was, it felt worth it.

Perhaps it was because my thoughts were too selfish that today’s situation became so embarrassing. I turned everything into what I least wanted to see. Time and again, I became the kind of person I hated the most. But I had no way to make it as though it never happened. I just want everyone in the family to live lightly, not to feel entangled because of any momentary thing. I only hoped that because of my capabilities, this family could look at me with admiration. But in the end, I discovered that I couldn’t even measure up to one-tenth of my son. I’m the most failed father, exposing all my failures, but last year, I succeeded, not even the slightest bit of opportunity was missed.”

Zhang Yichen heard his father admit his failures for the first time, and in his eyes, this was an extraordinary breakthrough. His father was so proud, when did he ever admit his actions were mistakes, or his mindset was wrong? But now, just to survive in this family, has he truly realized his errors? If he realized this sooner, wouldn’t it have been much better? Then his grandfather wouldn’t have had to suffer so much, and could have lived happily.

”Although I don’t know whether these words you say are sincere or just casually spoken for us to hear, when we heard you say this, our hearts were actually happy, joyful, and blissful. At least you had such an awakening. At least you could understand that what you did was not necessarily right. At least you treated everyone in this family as someone who should always be here. By regarding us as family, naturally, we can’t easily abandon you, nor could we be so ruthless. All we want is for everyone to live happily, so why change the ending repeatedly because of past pains, after all?

If Grandfather knew you had such an awakening and knew where you went wrong, he would be very happy. All these years, he feared you didn’t understand. Even if he wanted to tell you everything, he couldn’t. Because without you understanding yourself first, the more he says, the more it would backfire. It would only lead you to detest your family and feel your decisions were always correct. He couldn’t selfishly and hastily let all the pain and revenge fall on the family!

The family is always prioritized first. The entire family is a century-long prosperity, established over a century. How could such a thing be completely destroyed by a little setback?”

I will remember the promise we made together. I once said I will never give up on you, and I will surely keep my promise...
