My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2093: Chapter 1926: Do You Know?

The feelings between you and I cannot be changed by just a casual word.

Old Master Zhang knows that this matter has now become a foregone conclusion. No matter what he says, it’s of no use. Since the situation has reached this point, why not let nature take its course and accept this fact? Isn’t it better to let young people handle their own matters on their own?

But as he thinks of the disappointed look in his son’s eyes, his heart still aches. That is his biological son. No matter what heinous things he’s done, as a father, he can’t possibly abandon him. How could he neglect his son’s marriage? If that were the case, how could his son live a happy life?

At the same time, he also understands how difficult it is to change the decision his daughter-in-law has made. Every word she has ever said has never been swayed by anyone.

However, he recalls that this once domineering daughter-in-law of his could abandon all her attitudes and principles for the sake of a small story about his son. She used to make his son’s life completely different from what it is now, but such changes will never happen again. It’s already destined; the ending will ultimately be this way. These destined entanglements only make things worse. Nobody has ever wondered what kind of circumstances caused this couple to become like this. It always seems like the mistakes are yours, without considering if your husband was at fault or where the son went wrong.

”Once, you were loving with the child, but I also know that this love has drifted away with the hurt he caused you, never to return. But I hope you understand something: often, once you set your heart on a decision, it can leave you severely wounded when the time comes.

I know very well what kind of person you are inside—capable of doing anything for the one you love, yet able to walk away for the one you don’t love. Your personality is so free-spirited, never tethered by anything to keep you here. But because of my son, he has become an obstacle in your life’s path. He never thought this would hinder your progress one day. But do you understand? His heart truly holds you as his beloved...”

”Dad, whether or not he considers me as his dearest, some things must be clear. Should he just rely on loving me to do as he pleases and hurt me carelessly? If he truly loved me, how could he not realize the harm this would cause me, whether it would make me feel indescribable pain? He never thought of it, not before, nor now, yet claims he loves me. Is this what his love means?

I once said if his love for me ever changed, then I wouldn’t be able to continue living with him. These words you might have never heard, but I’ve long said them. Just as now, his love for me doesn’t remain as before and has transformed into this state, why persist by staying by his side? Doesn’t this just invite more suffering?

Everyone knows how much I love her and to what extent I would go for her. But her? She would casually abandon me because of a few disagreeable words, neglecting me. Is this what a true gentleman should do? Does he truly have me as his wife in his heart? If he can casually abandon his own wife, what is there he wouldn’t discard in his eyes?

I can forgive him time and again for what he’s done to me, pretend his harm never occurred. But should I do this just because he said he loved me once? Did he ever truly pledge vows to me, ever fulfill any promises to me? Why should I still treat her so well? No matter how good I am to her, in his eyes, I’m just useless. During the time he abandoned me, I cried myself to near suffocation every night under the covers without comfort from anyone. Who can truly understand that feeling? He never experienced the heartbreak of losing someone so deeply loved; it’s like tearing out one’s heart alive. He never felt such pain, so he cannot fathom how hurt I am inside.

Given this, I’ll let him genuinely experience it, make him understand that if a relationship can be easily discarded, it isn’t a relationship. If love can be dropped so effortlessly, then don’t claim to love this person, because such love he isn’t worthy of speaking.

Love isn’t pledges or promises; it’s in every word you speak that you can fulfill for me. It’s truly having me in your heart, treating me as part of your family. This is love, and this is how the relationship between husband and wife should be. Facing whatever comes together, never doubting each other, always trusting. That is what makes a true marriage. If she can’t achieve even one aspect of this, why stay with me? Keep me to live a life of heartbreak and pain together?

You know very well; it’s not that I hate you, but that I love you too deeply!

Does his heart truly hate me so much? If so, hope he’d say it clearly, not use little schemes to hurt me. I’m not a Saint; I cannot withstand his repeated harm. My heart truly aches!

I really don’t want to deal with this anymore; I’m so emotionally spent. He seeks me out relentlessly, time after time, merely for a way to excuse himself. Since he’s already hurt me, then don’t try to please me. It’s all futile. I will never return to him, and there’s no path back for me. The decision I make is final, not changed by anyone. For him, I’ve abandoned my principles repeatedly, but he isn’t worthy, nor deserving...”

Old Master Zhang watched Xia Jing, tears streaming down, knowing this truly hurt her inside. Despite such unbearable pain, she forced herself not to cry openly. How much resilience must it take to achieve that?

A man can drive a woman to such a state that even breathing becomes difficult, which can only mean he’s hurt her deeply. Yet, this foolish woman loves so profoundly, passionately, that she ultimately cannot protect herself.

Listening to last night’s heavy rain, could it be we are about to reunite?
