My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2074: Chapter 1907: Joke

How can I ever forget the time with you!

Ran Zhihan was a bit puzzled about why this matter suddenly turned out this way, why the once-loving couple came to this point. Why everything was different from what she had initially imagined; she always believed that if her husband knew all she had done for him, he would definitely forgive her, stay with her for a lifetime, and never part. Only now did she realize that it was all her imagination. After all, no one would easily forgive someone who has lied; lying isn’t terrifying, but it’s terrifying when the liar dares not to confess. That person is truly frightening. But she did it all for his own good, so why did things evolve into this conclusion today? What else does she need to do for him to trust her? It turns out all she did was in vain, and in his eyes, it was all so trivial. He simply wouldn’t believe her.

”Does this matter have to get to this point? Just because I lied to you once, do you need to choose to never trust me again? This matter isn’t as severe as you think, but why do you always make a big deal? Do you know that acting like this also makes my heart suffer? Obviously, I did this for your own good, so why would you treat me this way? Why do you misunderstand without discerning right from wrong? Don’t you know that saying those things to me really hurts me and makes my heart conflicted? I don’t even know if, in the future, encountering these kinds of things, I should still help you, only to be smeared or distrusted by you over and over again?”

”Today, no matter what reason you have, no matter what your purpose was, I really won’t forgive you. What’s done is done. I still stand by my words; you have to learn to take responsibility for what you’ve done yourself. I don’t care who you were before; when you’re with me, you must speak with true intention. You are my spouse, part of the Zhang family, and my wife. How could you do this to me? How could you lie like this? Don’t you know that a single lie can be enough to ruin the harmony within a family? Have you ever thought about what our relationship is for? Have you thought about the day when, because of a lie, our relationship would become out of control? Perhaps you’ve never worried, thinking that no matter what you do, I would choose to forgive you, right? But I’m not the Saint. I will not be like my father, and I will not treat you the way my dad treated my mom. My dad was foolish, not because I lack love for you, but because my love for you isn’t blind like his. I have my own sense of responsibility and pride, and I will never let a woman stand above all my pride, regardless of her importance. I’d rather give up the most important person to me than let it become an obstacle on my life’s path. You understand how difficult it has been for me to reach this point, but many things have to be undertaken personally, learning to grow from mistakes. My journey until today has been entirely to prove to my parents how strong I am, and to show them that giving up on me as their child was their life’s greatest mistake. However, being with you shows me how happy my heart can be. Every moment with you feels joyous, no matter what I do, but gradually, I realized that wasn’t the reality. Maybe you didn’t have me in your heart, but I truly had you in mine. Love is mutual; if a person lies once, they can choose forgiveness; twice might be seen as a misunderstanding. But once, twice, thrice – how can it be forgiven? Perhaps my parents could, no matter how many lies my mother tells, my father could forever act as if it never happened, forgiving her every time. But I can’t, because I understand many things require personal responsibility. I’m not my father. I am a man should possess all the responsibilities and masculinity a man ought to have – I won’t be like my grandfather, a man who is strong and independent, rather than someone who spends a lifetime pleasing their partner, for their partner’s sake, sacrificing everything. Maybe you think none of this matters to you, but it is very important to me. On one side is my grandfather, on the other side are my mom and dad, but I could never balance it all perfectly. When my parents ask how they treated me, I hope they can return to my side, and my grandfather, who painstakingly raised me, will always be in my heart’s most important place. Thus, no matter what happens in the future, our mutual understanding may never be like today. I do what I’m doing now for your own good. I hope you realize what things should and shouldn’t be done – don’t volunteer rashly. Because that brings no benefit to you and will only complicate and worsen our relationship!”

”I’ve already explained that it wasn’t intentional – what more do you want from me? Don’t complicate simple matters. I’ve told you, I can’t tell you about his matters because I promised to keep it secret. I didn’t want you to get hurt upon learning about this, but why can’t you grasp my sincere intentions; why must you oppose me? Is opposing me what makes you happy? Over such a trivial matter, must our relationship become so strained? Is our relationship truly so insignificant and fragile?

Many things aren’t that severe, so stop overthinking. If you don’t wish to see me now, I can promise not to appear before you for a while. But I hope you understand that all I’ve said is for your own good, for everyone in our family!”

Tears streak across my lips, unable to be wiped away; just pretend it’s a joke, don’t forget me from your memory!
